Guest guest
Chrissy, I am so glad they were able to work in quickly! I know it's an emotional roller coaster right now, but it really does get better. Makenna got her first cast on Tuesday, and I can honestly say we are back to normal today - we were yesterday afternoon! These kids are resilient and they bounce back fast, much faster than us old people . I am still emotionally exhausted and she is up and running around, bouncing on the couch! It all works itself out. The staff at Chicago is great, you are in great hands. Today will be long, but each day after will be better. What I do know is that the resources available through the living knowledge of this group is invaluable! Lean, ask, vent... I will be thinking about you guys today! Good luck and keep us posted. Amy, mom to Makenna 2 1/2 years old. In fist cast from Chicago(11/3/9). 25 degrees out of cast, zero in cast. > > Chrissy, you are a great mom and you did the right thing for your baby.. I am so glad you are getting his cast asap. It will be hard at first but I promise it gets better and we are here for you. God Bless you and your little boy. Good luck today. >  Joan > mom to Hayden 2 1/2 > 33 degrees > 1st cast down from 62 degrees > Treated at ish Rite Hospital > Dallas, TX > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: infantile_scoliosis > Sent: Wed, November 4, 2009 9:39:16 PM > Subject: First Cast tomorrow!!!!! > >  > Hello all, > I just wanted to update you on . We had our consult visit today at Chicago Shriners and it was wonderful. We were treated with the utmost love and care and respect and feel confident our son is in the best hands. > > They did xrays and as we figured, 's curve has progressed from 30 to a little over 35 and his RVAD is now over 20. Needless to say, we are glad we did not heed the advice of other doctors to wait it out another 2-3 months, since in 6 weeks, there has already been significant progression and that we came to Shriners!! > > What was shocking was when they said, " we can do it tomorrow! " Holy *#%)!!! > > Needless to say, we are a bit scatter brained, emotionally exhausted and anxious for tomorrow's 6am arrival at the hospital. I do want to give a HUGE shout out to my new best friend, Cara, Max's Mom, for all of her love, support, friendship and guidance these last few weeks, but in particular, today when I called her freaking out! > > With the advice of ALL of you and your prayers, freindly comments, loyalty to this group, the familial community you have all created here, my husband, Adam and I feel as prepared as I think we can be for something like tomorrow. Without you, we would have been lost in this. THANK YOU from the core of my heart and soul. If you do nothing else significant in life (which I doubt will be the case b/c you're all amazing people) know that you've touched the life of a little boy named . > > I will update you to let you know how it went. Please send prayers for strength, patience and bravery. > > Hugs to you all, > Chrissy > > Mom to (almost 20 mo) > First cast 11.05 >
