(I shouldn't complain. It was wonderful to feel useful around here for a change!). Anyway, 30 more messages to read before I'm caught up. I've decided that you all should ban me from the board except for a weekly check in. Look at the results you all have had in the past 7 days--Susi, F, Barb, everyone who finished the challenges, all the new people! I'm in awe (or as Barb said: in WOW) of you all! I had a huge brag to share this morning, but I decided to catch up first. Now I'm convinced it's a little, teeny, tiny brag. But, here goes: Yesterday I got my bike out of the garage for the first time since before Christmas. I rode around the neighborhood and looked up at LONE MOUNTAIN, the hill from H-E-double toothpicks. The local bike club has a monthly Lone Mountain Challenge, but I've always been too intimidated to even consider it. Before yesterday, that is. It's a long, straight road up the side of the mountain, about 12 miles. I've ridden much longer distances before, but hills are extremely difficult for me. I gritted my teeth, sucked in my abs and CONQUERED that mountain!!!! I had tears streaming down my face when I finished, I was so proud!! About 500 yards before the top, I was dying. I wanted to give in, but I heard say that " ...anyone can work out when they're fresh. It takes a champion to do this when you're tired. You gotta dig down inside and tap that strength!... " I felt like he had put his hand on my back and started pushing me to the top! When I had made it, I looked around and no one was there but me. I had done it myself! I eased off my bike and did the little conqueror dance from the end of the SA tape! Then I coasted back down at 25 mph (YIKES!) and couldn't keep the smile off my face. Today I look out the window at work and that mountain doesn't look so big anymore! LV, who's too sore to sit today SSS
Guest guest
, What an inspirational story. I think you are a conqueror! I am very proud of you. It just goes to show that if you set your mind to it you can do anything. You did it! What do you mean tiny brag? That is a HUGE brag! (and I just used an awful lot of exclamation points, can you tell I'm excited) I am so proud of you...you are definitely a conquerer. You kept going when you felt like quitting and you reached the top of the mountain. I can totally picture you doing that little dance with your hands in the air Way to go and thanks for sharing your success with us.
