I don't know anything about an 8 hour eeg but my daughter 5 at the time, 6

now did have a sedated MRI and she was peaceful and sleeping the whole time.

I don't how, honestly, my husband and I sat in the room with her and the

machine and it was extemely loud even with earplugs. She did find with it.

She has had heart eeg's as well while sedated and does fine with those.

has to go in for an 8 hour EEG (apparently she can listen to her music

with headphones which is great news...but a little surprising) and they also

want to schedule a sedated MRI. Anyone with any experience with either of these

please let me know. Seems like you'd have to be pretty heavily sedated not to

freak out at an MRI (she won't understand an explanation about it ahead of time)

but because they're so quick I wonder what is the drug of choice. Didn't someone

say the hardest part of the eeg was washing the gunk out of the child's hair

afterwards?

Sorry to be a pest and thanks for any input. I'm about ready to use that valium

suppository myself. Medwaiver just hit us up with a zillion piece of paper

totally confusing mess and a 2 day deadline to have it finished. Sheesh.

Sherry,

I recently posted some pictures of having his 24 hr EEG under M

folder in the Photo section of the group. Since doesn’t have much hair

getting the material out of his hair wasn’t much of a problem. hasn’t

had an MRI so can’t help there. Years ago they used to give chloral hydrate

to individuals who may have difficulty with a CT scan, don’t know if they

still use that for sedation.

Good luck.

Louise
