Guest guest
I love martial arts classes even more than tae bo. You learn so much more about application of the moves you've learned. It is a GREAT experience. And if you think Tae Bo is empowering, a martial arts class is even more so. We also learned some ju jitz zu (not sure of the spelling, but its a wrestling martial art). I loved it. It was my favorite thing to do. And I loved being able to tackle my husband (who IS a wrestler, and take him down, even though he is twice my size!)...LOL He was quite surprised to be thrown on the coffee table once! I have my green belt, almost blue belt. (ours went white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, red, red with a strip, brown, brown with a stripe, black).. I was ready to test for the blue belt, but was 7 mo pregnant, and the kids got the chicken pox!!! So, I took a leave. that was 5 years ago this month as a matter of fact. Someday I will go back. Someday I will finish my black belt. But knowing how to APPLY those punches, kicks, and blocks added a whole new dimmension. And we were just starting to do sparring. Well, it becomes a game of strategy then, watching the opponent, looking for the opening, and deciding which combination of moves to use, all while on your feet, trying to defend yourself!! It is a GREAT test of the mind, even more than its a test of physical endurance. , who's pupils are dilating just thinking about it!!!!LOL Re: Focusing and -Thanks for sharing your experiences. -Someday I would love to start a martial arts class or kickboxing class. Because of Tae Bo, I have found a new love. Debbie, I feel the same way. I always used to think there was no way I could take any type of Martial Arts class, but now that I've been doing tae-bo, I think it would be lots of fun and I have a whole new respect for it.
