We don’t use it but few people here do. natasax Dear all, I have a general question and would be grateful if anyone would reply to me. You can email me off forum too if you want to. I know everyone has different opinions on this. My son Sam is 6 and a half. We started biomed last Nov and have been scd for just over 2 yrs and he was gf/cf since he was diagnosed at 2 and a half. Sam is in a special needs school. I am about to pull him out part time to work with him at home as he works well one to one and does so much good work in his private speech therapy sessions which are every fortnight. Also i have quite afew problems with the school. I always seem to be advising the school on what sam should be working on next, what he is good at, try this etc etc Also being in a class with so many different autistic children, he picks up so many behaviours. In holidays and weekends, i always feel Sam is so much less autistic. My dilemma is trying to work out what to do with Sam on those 2 days that he will be off school starting from mid-march. What therapies could i work with him. He is verbal, talking in sentances. Language slowly becoming more and more normal. Still garbled stuff in there though. I did Son Rise part time for a while when he was young but could not get any volunteers and i found it too flimsy. I felt sam responds better to more structure. He does not crave routine at all and you can change plans last minute etc but wanted something abit more........ (cant put into words, sorry, no offence meant to any son risers out there) Also, do i pull Sam out of this school permanantly. If i do, i know there is no chance of him ever getting back into something like that. Plus i am due to start my counselling degree in sept which is part time for 2 years. One day a week. On top of all of this, we want to emigrate ot Oz at some point and have found out that to get in with an autistic child, you need to prove they will be able to work when older, high functioning etc etc Def not in a special needs school. Obvisously i am abit all over the place, knowing Sam is coming out of school 2 days a week soon. Really dont know which way to turn and what to do. Want to work on autism and education. Help!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! !!!! Kirsty xxxx
