Cyndi B Hi , It would be great if you are able to video-tape so that you could review the milestone steps taken here. I really wish I had when had his first ABA session. The therapist came out with her hair, let's say messy. She did not apply any aversive tactics it was just holding on to her insanity in my eyes, but she manage to get him to cooperate. This is back when he use to be a runner, lots of meltdowns. In the room, he was determined not to sit down, never stayed seated, headed straight towards the door, would yell out " SHUT-UP or NO! " The therapist was working on pairing which he would seek the trust and understand the concept of the " peel & walk " steps here of him not having it his way. Finally a success and this broke the mold to generalizing wherever we were at, it was having a bag of tricks to work with, once I had begun attending workshops, conferences, reading, revolving around ABA training. Later on within time, then I had begun video-taping. I get confronted with parents with the younger ones around me they look at me while chasing or trying to hold down their child and tell me like " Aren't you lucky you do not have to go through this? " Then I just tell them, " been there and done that " , then they look over at and can not believe he once experience similar issues like their youngsters. looks over at me and gives me a smile. His receptive skills are just incredible since being under the ABA/VB intervention and of course understanding about sensory integration, big times! You know I was expecting the worst once reached the hormone years but he actually did well due to the interventions mentioned above then it was the beginning of the Elimination diet trials beginning with his favorite once upon a time " gotta have " Fruity Pebbles cereal or Flinstone vitamins which were part of the culprit of some of his behavior issues, meaning most sugar items, color-dye, artificial preservatives, the list goes on. This is what open my eyes here to where he is now with the Dietary intervention & alternative bio-med route. He is currently suffering from the normal seasonal allergies of high on mold, mountain cedar & sinus infection which most of us here locally are also undergoing. Which is welcome to this club. Today he has a dental appointment for some good cleaning, hope this goes well, he has been very hyper-sensitive and with ear tube's acting up, will need to have them removed and replaced, then there is possible regrowth tonsils. You could say, I did end up missing out to observe the hormone behavior issues that I was expecting on this journey, due to finding the culprit behind 's underlying medical issues going on. Here is on your journey with , may he have some comfort to be able to function on a daily basis and learn what he can without any of these hormone affects interfering. Is receiving the ABA sessions? If so, how was his first day? Irma,19,DS/ASD
