Hi everyone,

Curious if many of you have used this program with your children at

school? We have been using it this year with , it was

initiated by his Ed Tech and she got all the info through the OT. It

has been working wonderfully for J, he's writing several letters

now. If you are familiar with the program, there is an order for

which you introduce the letters. Currently they have only worked on

1 letter that is in 's name, C. Today his Ed Tech was to

introduce O. I just got a phone call from her, on her way to a

Doctor's appt, telling me that the Sped Teacher has told her to no

longer use HWT and to just teach him how to write his name, on lined

paper - none the less! The Ed Tech is crushed. He has been making

such progress and understanding about writing the letters. Now she

just wants him to write his name. As if that's all he'll ever need

in life???

I'm going to see what the Teacher writes home today in the notebook,

yesterday she wrote that she was going to have the Tech focus on

writing his name and that it would be HOH at first. She made no

mention of dropping the HWT program. Granted it's not in his IEP,

he's learning!!

Thoughts on writing???? What have your children learned to do?

Don't you think it's important he learn to write more than just his

name??? What about going from a program that uses specific wording

prompts, etc. to something completely different that doesn't follow

the same guidelines? She doesn't want her to use the verbal cues from

HWT either. www.hwtears.com

Thanks -

Jayne
