DAN conference in Anaheim

Hi everyone

I just got back from the DAN conference in Anaheim. I

was so impressed and so awe filled that I bought the

whole weekend on DVD. If you have $300 dollars to

spare I highly recommend it. I ordered both the

science part and the general session part because I

want to pass on the science part to our alternative

dr. we are working with. Some of the science part is

over my head but it will be good for other dr.s to

see. M. was there and I found her very humble,

inspiring, and just a really nice person who advocates

for kids with autism. She does have a bad mouth

saying the " F " word several times but if you can get

past that, she tells you what treatments worked and

where she and her son are now on the road to

" Recovery " yes I said the " R " word. I met several

parents whose kids have " Recovered " meaning they no

longer qualify for the label " autism " but they do for

the rest of their lives have to watch everything that

goes into their bodies and what is in their

environment. It seems apparently that a predisposing

condition genetically to develop autism due to

immunity issues sets these kids and many kids with DS

up for developing severe brain dysfunction. The dr.s

do not claim that every single person who does their

protocal will be " healed " but their research does give

one to hope for amelioration of abnormal brain issues

like stimming, etc.

One doctor stated if your child is rocking, banging

heads, etc. there definitely is severe inflammation in

the brain. Finding out what is causing that

inflammation is the issue. When I went on Saturday

morning I was thinking we have to get some people

interested in starting this kind of funding for our

kids. At the end of the weekend I realized they

already have it...we should just join them. Even

though everything may not apply to our kids they have

the same problems our kids do. Immune dysfunction

caused usually by heavy metals which need to be

detoxed, decrease in glutathione, poor ability to

process the B vitamins, etc. etc. etc. One dr. I

spoke with went so far as all disease even cancer can

benefit from their treatments.

So just wanted to share with everyone this wonderful

group of people. Out of all the people I met, only

one dr. was kind of rude to me after I told her my

daughter had both DS and autism. But that was

definitely the only one. Everyone else was so nice

and kind and listened to my story for a few minutes

anyway.

Hope this gives you some room to hope. BTW my

daughter has a bad bacteria hiding in the gut and one

dr., the only one I know of in the country, is

designing a way to treat this as it hides in a mucous

layer and drugs cannot effect it. The mucous layer

has to be removed so they can get at the bacteria.

This is cutting research and some of it is

controversial but I say lets proceed with caution and

join some of these people.
