<<has anyone had any huge problems with climbing on EVERYTHING? My 3yr

climbs on everything in the house. I have baby gates blocking off >>

Hi, Everyone......I had to laugh. She sounds like my 'normal' boy

at that age. I have photos of climbing the bookshelves at 2 yrs of

age. If there was something up high that he wanted, he found the way to get up

there!!!

a....Congratulations to Clare!!! I hope you remind us Monday morning.

Take care, Everyone.

Hi a,

I guess if she was 2yr old and climbed a bookshelf I wouldnt worry

about it but my other 3 kids never climbed to this extent.I mean she

climbs on everything and anything to get up high. she even makes me

hold her all the time, not to be held but to be up high. I will hold

her but if I sit down she has a fit because she only wanted me to

hold her to be higher than what she can attain on her own. I have

never seen a child " normal " or not scale the sides of counters with

her feet, scale the legs of tables with her feet, pile everything

she can get a hold of to just get up as high as possible on

something. Not even to get anything....just to be up there. I can't

believe no one else has had this problem. I bet she would climb up

on the roof if she could find a way. But thanks I'm glad I made you

laugh.

my friend's son with DS used to climb the fridge constantly at around age 3 or 4

I think...no Autism involved. But his 2 year younger " normal " brother used to

climb into the kitchen sink and dishdrainer at the same time. Mealtimes were

great fun lol.

I know this must be scary because it certainly sounds dangerous but I'm at a

loss as to what a solution might be. Vaseline on the bottom of her feet????

This was my son, a climber when he was a youngster. I really just kept

an Eagle out for him and did allow it when safe, just to get it out of

his system.

He did fall out of a window once when he was under someone's care.

I use to do this when I was a youngster, no disability that I know of,

I was such a tomboy, you name it climbed everywhere.

Boy, if I did it and enjoyed it, this is why I had allowed him to, was

my thought back then.

I was not aware of the autism or sensory integration back when he was

about the latter part of 2 -3 y/o. Just thought " boy will be a boy " .

When he was about 7-13 y/o out at the football stadium, such a monkey

climbing over the bleachers and thensome.

He did outgrow it once a sensory diet was implemented.

How about trying some books placed in a backpack to wear, something

like wearing a weight vest.

Sounds like an explorer and sensory seeker.

Taking her out maybe to one of those places where nowadays there are

so much where there are those Moonwalks, etc.

Maybe this will help decrease it.

Donna has shared her stories about her daughter Maddie.

Sherry,

Thank you, I needed that laugh! I love the vaseline idea, don't

think I havent thought the same thing. I just hope this passes

because it is dangerous and with everything else I have going on

with the other kids, I can't just stand by her side and keep

removing her from the table, counter tops, kitchen sink (where she

just broke a glass the other day) the fish tank etc. I just feel so

frustrated because my house is like a maze of baby gates in every

door way, knobs off of drawers, no chairs etc. I want to have my

house back to somewhat of a normal state. I feel like I'm in jail

and I can never relax even for a moment. I'm tired :(
