Guest guest
Forwarding as is. Irma Hello everyone, I signed up for this free webnar and think you might enjoy it as well. Laurette Join us for a Webinar on September 26, 2007 In recent years, increasing attention has focused on the potential association between Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). A better understanding of their relationship will help guide early screening and treatment practices in those with Down Syndrome, so children with Down Syndrome can benefit from early intervention services targeted at their varied physical and emotional/behavioral disabilities. Two RTOI studies began in 2005 to examine the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders in children with Down Syndrome and investigate the role of repetitive behaviors, functional skills, and specific medical co-morbidities in diagnosis. The measures collected provide a description of characteristics of this population of children with respect to issues that may impact the accuracy of the assessment for ASD and treatment strategies. Additionally, it will also add valuable insight in the neurobiology of autism by clarifying its association with a known genetic condition.
