She has taken to listening to her brother's old stereo that plays her music cd's but she plays things like 5 little monkeys, old macdonald or her newest addition to her songs is " the monkey boy and funky monkey " She really seems to like songs about monkeys. So it isn't age appropriate but she is happy. :-) Carol Trishasmom She isn't typical, She's Trisha! ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Guest guest
a, Not to take my comment seriously......I had a friend (who always laughed rather than cry when things were crazy) who was worried when her son turned 18 (this was back in the day). She had no idea what to do since he also still like the younger things. His favorite was Barney. Anyway, she would always joke about her son turning 18. " I don't quite know what to do. Should I take him out for a drink or buy him a hooker? " It always made me laugh because she always had such a humorous way of getting through the difficult progressions. I am sure whatever you decide will be perfect. Doesn't everyone like to go to Pizza Hut and get DVD's? Happy Birthday in advance! Holly sweet 16 well all my big boy will be the big sweet 16 in about a week, on august 8th. I am unsure what to do to make it speical, or for gifts really. He would love the mickey mouse club house with santa clause, at least he keeps asking about it, and about going to the store to get it??? previews must of been on one of his other dvd's. And im definitely getting him the madagascar dvd, he loves that movie, watched it about a 100 times, its on our dvr for the tv. I want to get him something 16year oldish, unsure what to get. I thought about redoing his room, as little brother is moving downstairs, but nathan likes to open presents, unsure if he would understand the room thing for his 16th. Im unsure if he understands age/year thing he knows a birthday is special, presents, cake, and singing, and ofcourse his PIZZAHUT, lol. But not once has he ever been able to tell someone how old he is, even after we have reminded him a couple hundred times all year long. What does one do for teenagers on their birthday? he is my first so dont really have a clue. often i am torn between making sure he gets and does things like his age peers, and letting him do and have the child/school age things and activities he seems to enjoy soooo much. please help, shawna ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Guest guest
We found the headset and tape player or I-Pod is a great age appropriate thing - even if the music is Sesame street. But Elie needs the big headsets. The cheap small ones are just an irritation to Elie. He picked out some KOSS big headsets. Elie also loves to tear paper off gifts. He got there at about 18. How about wrapping the door (like people do for xmas)so he can open the door to his gift room? > > well all my big boy will be the big sweet 16 in about a week, on august > 8th. > I am unsure what to do to make it speical, or for gifts really. Guest guest
BTW - Elie got a huge firetruck for this 18th birthday - given to him by his favorite teacher. IT has flashing lights, sirens, a voice issuing commands. I gave it to a five year old this year. > > a, > Not to take my comment seriously......I had a friend (who always laughed > rather than cry when things were crazy) who was worried when her son turned > 18 (this was back in the day). Guest guest
Hi a, Does he like to bowl? Okay, what do you get when you mix your kid's birthday and bowling? The coolest kid's birthday party ever! Why not have a Birthday Bash at a bowling center. At 's birthday party this is what the center had provided. A B-day Bash package includes bowling, bowling shoes, party supplies and plenty of great food and beverages. An authentic bowling pin that everyone can sign for the birthday boy. Maybe the bowling center provides something like this. A swimming party was also given on the same day for 's birthday later on during the day, decorated in with a summer theme. Everyone had just a blast! Good luck and lets see what you end up doing? Irma,19,DS/ASD
Guest guest
Sara, Are you sure Sesame Street is a good influence.Afterall they took Cookie Monster off because he was the wrong role model. They were afraid he was making kids fat. What a joke.I guess the producers were afraid they would be sued next.Since there are people suing the food industry for making people fat.I am fat because I eat to late at night and I do not exercise.Wish I could blame someone else.I wish would wear any kind of headset but no no no.I have to listen to his music, and tv over, and over, and over again.Have a great day. Guest guest
Hi a, We have fazed out big BD parties. We usually do a family party with the siblings and Zeb's nieces and nephews. He does go out to eat and asks for nothing but DVD's. I doesn't matter what DVD's as long as he likes them. Most teens typically want the ipods and gameboy, xbox or the like, those games etc to play. I bought Zeb an automatic bowling game for Christmas last year. It was about 6' long, the pins go up automatically and it keeps score. I found it at Sears. I know likes to bowl. All the kids had a blast with that game., young and old. My granddaughter is also 14 and she asked for a digital camera for her BD. Guest guest
That's it - Its cookie monsters fault!!! I always laugh about TV harming children. IF one uses good sense, TV must be helpful. I have 6 kids - all watched Sesame Street and all have succeeded in life . Only me and one of the children are addicted to Cookie MOnster's pet issue!!! We don't watch things more violent then Sesame Street. :~) > > Sara, Are you sure Sesame Street is a good influence.Afterall they > took Cookie Monster off because he was the wrong role model. WE have allready did the pool party thing, with all the family members present. thanks for the ideas, all are greatly appreciated.,i may check into the bowling thing. shawna ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

They have had an xbox since it came out, probably about 50 or more games, lol, i tried to play one once and got car sick, lol, its hard i dont know how they do it, i just can to the one joystick and a fire button, lol. Sadly they havent been making any new xbox games, just xbox 360, we are waiting to get this this winter for nicholas's birthday as it is more his and his dad's thing, nathan plays several games, often though he doesn't understand what he is suppose to do and cant read the monologue on the bottom on some of the games-- he usually plays sports ones or his lego starwars, , oh and hes got scoobydoo and nemo, and spongebob, he seems to like the sports ones the best, next to starwars anyways. thanks shawna ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
