Guest guest
Yes, the heat can be rough in the V.I. ... here in AZ it's cooled down to the high 90s (from around 105 last week ...), but with low humidity; it's quite nice very early mornings, however. It's not even summer yet. EEK! Amy in AZ P.S. Hope you enjoyed your trip to Plaza Extra -- I used to like that supermarket. > >Reply-To: FAMSecretSociety >To: Famsecsoc <famsecretsociety > >Subject: Heat......................................... >Date: Tue, 31 May 2005 18:01:02 -0700 (PDT) > >The accuweather temp here in the USVI, at 9:00 PM, is 87 degrees. Guest guest
Dwight, It is quite beautiful to behold, especially if you haven't seen it before. Beyond that, it is very much the third world, for those of us who live here. The VI is a territory of the USA. Nope, this is not considered living, in the United States. This afternoon, when I was waiting for a safari, there were, as always, West Indies folks waiting with me. Certain ones, the ones with the tourists, do not stop for "us locals." They always have white people on them, because 90 percent of tourists are indeed, white. Any way, one of the tourist, safaris went by. This little girl, said "white people." Then she looked at me, pointed and said, "she's white." I admitted, by default, that I was/am. ( - ; I then mentioned that, once I moved here, the white people's safari would not stop for me, either. Also, that when I went in to town, some one always wanted to braid my hair, or drive me, "back to the ship." My regular, gypsy, taxi driver, is a wonderful woman from Dominica. This morning, I asked her if she had watched, "Miss Universe" last night. (Believe me, Dwight, you don't even want to hear the story of why I was watching it. It relates to the cable service. Any way, Miss USVI, was voted by her peers as, "Miss Congeniality." The driver said to me, "That is hard to understand, because people here are not very nice, you know." She cracks me up! Do you want me to send you a story I just did on "Reparations?"
