Guest guest
Dr Mercola posted a list of foods containing MSG or glutamate: Here is a list of ingredients that ALWAYS contain MSG: Autolyzed Yeast Calcium Caseinate Gelatin Glutamate Glutamic Acid Hydrolyzed Protein Monopotassium Glutamate Monosodium Glutamate Sodium Caseinate Textured Protein Yeast Extract Yeast Food Yeast Nutrient These ingredients OFTEN contain MSG or create MSG during processing:[10] Flavors and Flavorings Seasonings Natural Flavors and Flavorings Natural Pork Flavoring Natural Beef Flavoring Natural Chicken Flavoring Soy Sauce Soy Protein Isolate Soy Protein Bouillon Stock Broth Malt Extract Malt Flavoring Barley Malt Whey Protein Carrageenan Maltodextrin Pectin Enzymes Protease Corn Starch Citric Acid Powdered Milk Anything Protein Fortified Anything Enzyme Modified Anything Ultra-Pasteurized Does this list go too far for many/most of us? Does it mean, for example, that even if our child can cope with some dairy, they shouldn't have anything with whey protein or anything with casein in it, and are there no stock products eg marigold we can use to improve home-made soups? Actually, doesn't home made bone broth contain glutamate too, becasue of the gelatine. Not sure what to do! Margaret
