Guest guest
Oh, geez, ! It seems like there has been a full moon out by you lately! Here's hoping things quiet down for all of you. Liz Too much drama It has been a while since I said much. Mostly been lurking lately with a comment here and there. But a lot has been going on in our lives besides rising gas prices (which I hate) and tv shows (which I love). This is very long and I apologize for that. Just gotta get it out! When we first took Janie (8 - DS/PDD-NOS+) off abilify and put her on trileptal for seizures/aggression and clonidine her aggression became much less intense for a couple weeks. Since then it has increased to unbearable and dangerous to herself and others. Finally, during our teleconference on Monday her psychiatrist witnessed the intensity and frequency her aggressive acts have reached and I don't know what she said when she called the crisis center (again), but they sent someone out to our house a few hours later. They called in the " fast team " so someone was here until 11 PM that night even though Janie went to sleep about 9:30 (an hour and a half later than usual). They will help us with exactly the kinds of resources and therapies I have been searching for since last year. Tomorrow we have a meeting to set up a schedule, etc. Also, we are eliminating the clonidine which never has seemed to help Janie and starting her on geodon. I am not really crazy about the idea of trying another atypical antipsychotic, but the psychiatrist thinks it is the best thing to try. Janie had very bad reactions to risperdal and seroquel. Abilify was losing effectiveness fast. We will see how the geodon goes. We will be starting out by giving her benedryl with a very low dose just in case she freaks out like she did on seroquel. Wish us luck! At the same time, the trucking company my husband worked for went out of business because the truck drivers were making more than the company. So he is off work and unemployment just does not cut it as far as paying the bills. So that stinks! Last month Katelyn (11 - ADHD/depression/OCD) lost her medical coverage because our income was too high. Next month, fortunately, she can get the same coverage as Medicaid for $15 per month so she can get back into counseling. Today she got sent home from school with pink eye and she can't return to school until it's treated and I don't know where to get money for the doctor or medicine. Since this is not enough, one of my adult daughters has to get a restraining order against her live in boyfriend's ex-girlfriend who is accusing her of kidnapping their son who just happens to live with my daughter and bf about 80% of the time. This is because the ex-gf asked the bf to pick up their son from school on " her day " because she couldn't make it and bf asked my daughter to do it because he was working. She picks up my grandson every day from the same school and has picked up this kid many many times before. Anyway, the ex-gf verbally attacked my daughter at the school to the point that after asking her 3 times to back away from her car she finally called 911 because the woman was really getting out of control and becoming potentially violent. She is very mentally unstable and has these rages in front of anyone who happens to be around including her 8-yr- old son. She has an unstable relationship with an unstable, gang type guy who has threatened to harm several of her relatives, also including the little boy, when they get in fights. I feel like I have to report this to CPS because I (and my daughter) are worried about the boy's safety and mental health. Daughter has been in this relationship for 5 years and the ex has gone psychotic in this way many times. When she gets this way she will call them all hours of the night and day like every 5 minutes until someone picks up the phone so she can rage at them. Daughter's bf does not seem to have the b__ls to take legal action to protect his son so it makes for a pretty uncomfortable situation. When I was driving home from Monday's teleconference Janie was screaming in the seat behind me and the boy and my grandkids were in the 3rd row seat. The out of control woman was screaming so loud into my daughter's cell phone that I could hardly hear Janie screaming and I was trying to talk to Janie's psychiatrist on my cell phone about her phone call with Janie's neuro. Can you blame me for popping a zanax when I got home??? If you read all this, thank you, and if not, that's ok too. P.
Guest guest
Hi ~ I can relate too! I hope Janie gets on the " right " meds soon and that it's not too hard to find the right ones. We have an appt on June 12 with a new behaviorsl/psychiatrist to help us manage meds with Dylan, things have been really difficult with him lately too, and of course he can't tell us what is wrong. He's actually on Abilify too, and I'm wondering if it's lost it's effectiveness. Yelling and grunting all of the time, and being more aggressive than ever before - not terrible, but has shoved me a few times and tells me he wants to scratch daddy's head when he is mad at him - which at least he's communicating that to me!! (he was scratched by an angry child at school once, and now I think he thinks that's what he should do when he's mad). Good luck with everything else in your life too - sounds like a mess with the situation your daughter is in & the psycho ex-gf - I hope it can be resolved soon, sounds like she might not be a great parent, maybe if there is intervention the child can get a chance at a good life. Guest guest
Sara - Choose to make lemonade, not complain about the lemons..************* Today she got sent home from school > with pink eye and she can't return to school until it's treated and I > don't know where to get money for the doctor or medicine. *************Home treatment for pink eye - mix salt in water - 1 tsp to 8 oz of water. Wash out eye - pour the saline from the nose side of her eye out with her head tilted so the saline runs back towards her ear. Do this several times (every hour if she will let you) . Also, a wet tea bag held on the eye will also help clear the infection. The bacteria in pink eye is transmitted by dirty hands, so make sure she doesn't touch her eye AND use a very small, easy to wash towel until she is better. I usually give my family a washcloth to dry their hands and face - one each time they need it. That way they are not putting the infection back in their eye.************** And KAREN - a big hug for a horrible day!!!!> > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]> > > > _________________________________________________________________ Change is good. Guest guest
Wow , You have a lot on your plate! I hope things get better for all of you involved. Isn't it sad that you have to get to a point of absolutely intense crisis beore anyone will come to your aid? It is like the stalkers who can't be touched until it is too late. Gled to know that you are getting some help though. I pop a Xanax every now and then as well. I think it just goes with the territory. I hate being on medication but I also love my family and want to enjoy the moments I can. If that means some meds now and then, so be it! Sending prayers and hugs your way! Guest guest
<< I take Klonipin its a narcotic but if I dont take it I cant deal with the stress levels >> Klonopin is NOT a narcotic; it's a benzodiazepin tranq like valium or xanex. And it's one of the least addictive. Sherry
Guest guest
, PS on the Klonopin Laurie mentioned. We have friends with a dtr w/ autism who is very violent and huge....they recently were given an rx for klonopin to give her only when one of these episodes occurs....not all the time. (She's on other meds too but they also are having a diificult time finding the right combo) Mom and dad say the klonopin has been a lifesaver....it calms her right down and she usually goes to sleep. Not something you want to do all the time but for those emergency type rages it's something to consider. We used to carry valium with us when going on a car trip with when she was little as she would sometimes go ballistic when caught in a traffic jam with cars on both sides...or wait! maybe that was my husband. Just kidding. Maybe you could ask about it as a temporary measure. Sherry
