Guest guest
Hi , We have worked with different therapists with my 3 ocd-affected children and all included me in several initial sessions, and with my younger son (he was seeing someone at age 8-9) I was expected to be present for part of every session if not the whole session. Since the family can be drawn into inadvertently accomodating OCD, the parent(s ) needs to be part of therapy sessions to plan the homework -what to do and not to do at home, and to have both parent/child agree. I feel like that is the standard approach, so departing from that maybe needs to be explained by the therapist-maybe your son has said he wants to see her alone? At any rate I think your questions are justified. nancy grace
