Guest guest
Diapers can be paid for in Texas by Medicaid yes. I get Goodnight's pullups for Landon from a Med-Care Medical supply company, paid for by Medicaid. This is one of the services I stand to lose if Landon loses Medicaid. I do NOT know about other forms of Insurance paying for diapers though and I've never heard of that being done, sadly. I sure hope you get some form of assistance though, waitlisted for 5+ years?? I'd be bankrupt by then. > > > > Diapers are covered by medicaide after the age that a typical > child will be > > out of diapers. Guest guest
Why yes , all you need to do is contact your medical provider and request for a script that this is a medical necessity and see what type of Insurance policy provides. Depending on your insurance, title 19 will pay for your diapers, wipes, bedpads and gloves for your child with a script from your doctor. Diapers will be covered under some insurance policies and Medicaid only if they are called incontinence supplies, have a doctor's prescription, and are for a child over 4 years old. Medicaid does cover the cost of pampers, training pants, and mattress pads. Have your child's doctor fill out a Title 19 form and then look in the phone book for Durable Medical Equipment. That's where you would get the pampers, training pants, and pads. Check Medco, they deliver anywhere are located in Houston but once again they deliver all over and probably refer a medical supply center near you, they are already insurance providers. http://www.e-medco.com/ Keep us posted to see what you found out, good luck. have you contacted to see where your child is on the IFHS or the MDCP interest list? I usually call them annually to see more or less whereabouts what number and sometimes this gets them going. My son was receiving the IFHS for the diapers, then use it for ABA therapy. My son is no longer receiving the IFHS, he is now on the CLASS Program. Good luck, Irma,18,DS/ASD > > Wow, do you think I can get our medical insurance to pay for diapers? We are in Texas too, and do not qualify for SSI or Medicaid. We are waitlisted for MDCP, IFS, and CLASS waiver programs, and have been for 5+ years. Diapers sure are pricey, and we're just about outgrowing the size 6 Pampers we're currently using. What do you use after that? > > Thanks, > > Katy (DS/ASD) & Ally's Mom
Guest guest
wanted to add more resource to contact: At the 2005 Autism State Conference was: Diapers to Your Door 100 – 12th Street P O Box 275 Seagraves, TX 79359 J-MAR INCONTINENCE SUPPLY P.O. BOX 869 Wolfforth, Texas 79382 Office: (806)866-4010 Voicemail: (800)342-7371 Fax: (806)866-4061 http://www.jmardiapers.com/ I've no personal experience with either company. My son is toilet- trained at the age of 13 y/o due to the late dx of autism. Learning about sensory integration and ABA was a huge impact to help assist during his toilet training days. There are 3 people whom I recommend if you are near any of these places or have the opportunity to attend a toilet training workshop, well worth it, is with Batts or Gail Wayman out in Plano. Kelle Wood out in Austin or when she is out in the DFW area with the FEAT organization, 90% have learn this with this program. There is also a wonderful book I highly recommend if unable to attend: by Wheeler who is another person to meet at any workshop or conference. Co-author of the best-selling Treasure Chest of Behavioral Strategies for Children with Autism, now brings us an excellent guide through the special difficulties encountered when toilet training an individual with autism. This book offers over 200 toilet training tips, 50 case examples from which you can learn, and 40 " cautions. " Irma,18,DS/ASD
Guest guest
I just got off the phone with Blue Cross / Blue Sheild, and am told that they do not provide coverage for diapers because they are disposable, and disposable items are not covered. I asked about syringes and colostomy bags as other disposable items, and she said those are pharmacy items covered there, but not diapers or any form of incontinence supplies. I'm not surprised. It seems whatever Katy needs it's never covered. We always have to fork over for things it seems others can get for free. Thanks for the thought though! Apparently we're made of money... mum592001 wrote: Why yes , all you need to do is contact your medical provider and request for a script that this is a medical necessity and see what type of Insurance policy provides. Guest guest
, Ok, here is another trial and that is contacting the medical supply places I've given, ask if there are any generic diagnostic code, if they have dealt with BCBS. For example kids with CP or Muscular Dystrophy may lack the muscle control to be potty trained. There are lots of different reasons why a child would not be able to have the control to be potty trained. Just thought I throw this in before you throw in the towel, then you could retrieve back to of course " never fails " but a relief to know you had tried. I remember once upon a time how BCBS insurance use to be one of the best and seems like I have been reading how much it has gone down. Like I am surprised because......; ) Just remember you gave it a go and then contact the MHMR center to see where is your child on the " Interest list " ? Guest guest
I have just gotten set up with a company called Tri Medical (I have the number if anyone wants it) My 4 year old is getting rather snug in her size 6 diapers and I wasn't completely sure where to go from there. I contacted the insurance company and they told me that I would have to contact my pediatrician the pediatrician would have to get an approval. To get an approval they would have to include a diagnosis and express the need. It was a pretty easy process, no headaches. The pediatrician called back by the end of the day and set me up with Tri Medical. The woman that I spoke to sent me samples of diapers and pull ups so that I could find the right fit. They ask me how many I would need a day. I estimated 5. Sometimes my daughter uses the potty sometimes not. So on and so forth. They will now send me 150 diapers once every month. They had the pediatrician write a prescription stating the number of diapers and 11 refills. And the UPS man will deliver them to my front door. **Amber > > Wow, do you think I can get our medical insurance to pay for diapers? We are in Texas too, and do not qualify for SSI or Medicaid. Guest guest
We found a company thru Exceptional PArent MAgazine and had the diapers drop shipped. They were kind enough to send us samples to try when we outgrew the largest kids available. I believe the name of the company was Woodbury. I also bought seconds thru them!! I could use extra tape that they sent as most seconds were missing tape tabs. You might want to think out using your private medicaal insurance. IF you have a lifetime limit on DME (Some companies consider diapers to be DME) you DO NOT want to use your insurance. But if you have a prescription, it is a recognized medical expense for IRS.
