Guest guest
, Ifyou privately send me your mailing address, I will send you a copy of the new document that Dr. Capone gave me. He wants it in the hands of pediatricians and doctors and said it was fine for me to give out. I would be happy to get a copy to you, so that you can get the awareness to the doctors and teachers that work with your child. Holly re: Oprah Well, I thought it was really good. I was crying too. Guest guest
<<We just have to get our voice heard about how different our children are compared to these people who are high functioning. Holly>> Yeah, and at the same time make sure we don't offend the " normal " DS community who would be appalled I'm sure to see DS kids like ours on national TV, fearing like Jayne said, everyone would think ALL DS kids are like ours. Guest guest
It is a tight walk we walk, isn't it! Guest guest
I think that is definitely a major reason why we need to be seen & heard. Our kids are not " typical " kids, not " typical kids with DS " nor are they " typical " kids with ASD. They are kids with DS & ASD. Guest guest
Dial up - yeah that WOULD take forever!!! It was just a thought! Yes, maybe Joan could get the article and permission to post it. I just hate to see you have to make all those copies and mail it all. Thanks Holly, Jayne Holly Giglio wrote: Jayne, I do have a scanner, however I have dial up! The acticle is 15 pages and that could take me days to email. I think before I would post it I need to make sure he does not mind that we do this. Maybe Joan can get it directly from him and put it up on he site? I still do not mind mailing it to people. Holly re: Oprah Well, I thought it was really good. I was crying too. Guest guest
I was reading Oprahs message board and it seems so many of us fell the sameway.people arent remembered when they do good things even just ordinary people but everyone remembers when someone does bad things,I listened to Imus every morning he is alittle crude but in every single show he mentioned the kids. I just thought firing him was not appropiate.Yomorrow Oprah is gonna have some rappers on lets see how that goes,.Lauire wrote: Laurie, I saw Oprah and one of her guest even mentioned. What good does it do to have Imus fired when nothing is being done about the racial slurs other celebraties like Snoop Dog has made.Snoop Dog has taken women to awards shows wearing a leash and dog collar.I want to know who is alive today that actually was there when cotton picking was going on and remembers exactly what happened.I am very sorry for how people were treated but we need to move forward. Take care of the here and now. > > I posted a message at Oprah.con and enrolled in her membership program. Im having a real hard time with this Imus thing we all make mistakes and he has done so much for us as parents of kids with asd and gets no credit. If the girls on the basketball team can forgive him why cant we.Has Al Sharpton apologized to the 3 young men he crucified about raping a woman and all was unfounded. If you ask me Al Sharpton has done more destruction in creating racisism then anybody I can think of. Just venting Laurie > >
