Guest guest
Elie still has the PUS for VCR . Also his CD's must be in a bunch (not a stack cause they slither but a lumpy thing. Then the cassette tapes are in a bucket. I took most of his babies and put them in the empty drawers in his chest of drawers which is in his closet (he doesn't need space but for one or two button shirts. He was not home when I did this. In less then one day, all the babies were back out and heaped in the proper corner. So here is how his room looks: One corner for video tapes, another corner for boom box. In front of the boom box sits the bucket of tapes. Next to that bucket, is a CD clump. Each day he takes a baby or two and carefully lays the special one(s) on his bed. He does not have LUS anymore. Now if we could create a life around these syndromes!!!! Sherry We have a portable DVD player that Trisha takes with us when we are in the car and back and forth to school. It's a Durabrand and the model number is BAT-05 We got it a Walmart. it has forward and backward (rewind) as well as pause and stop and next and volume control all on the player itself as well as on the remote. :-) She watches this one more than the regular dvd player because of the rewinding and fast forwarding. I am constantly having to " clean " her dvd's because of grubby little hands and if they get too scratched I use the disc doctor on them and she loves it. She still has some tapes that she watches but most of them have been converted to dvd's now so it's rare for her to want to watch a tape nowdays. Guest guest
I think much of the rewind syndrome is in an attempt to get the particular sound into the memory. this morning we were treated to a couple of hours of OFF as in Off to see the Wizard. Elie was singing along with the OFF. Now we are listening to some phrase in Italian by Pavarotti - Dorme......??? Had an hour or two of Wiggles too today . Will this spring break never end???? Guest guest
, Katy sounds just like . She is 6. No neatness compulsions -- well, except that if she can get her hands on a little piece of toilet paper or kleenex, she'll " clean " windows and tv screens with it... Soracco wrote: See, now, I have not noticed ever line things up. If toys are all in her toybox, she just throws them all out and will then sit inside the box sometimes. Now she is playing with beads and chewing on them (ACK!....be right back) and will toss them, dangle them etc. SHe will lick the screen and feel the vibration of things. She is 4, will the lining of toys come later? She is in constant motion, which is why I thought she never lined things up.

Guest guest
Try vacuuming around that!!! Once a month, everything gets dumped out so that I can vacuum and dust. Boy does Elie hate that. But it only takes him 1/2 hour to return everything EXACTLY as it was!! Guest guest
<<apparently the reason Mikayla has been so sociable and watching TV with me the last couple days is that cheese was discovered in the upstairs player when my husband went to use it last nite >> LOL!!! Too funny!! I located online the Durabrand type of DVD player Carol, but nothing with a Bat-05 model number so I don't know how we'll be able to find a rewinding one unless we go in and try them all. I did see a cute pink one. That would probably look good with cheese in it. Sherry
Guest guest
<<You don't have to go in and try them all it should tell you on the box. We got this model at Christmas so maybe the newer ones have it as a standard feature. :-) Also look on the picture and it should show the face of the player and look for the buttons. :-)>> Not necessarily......Ours has forward and rewind buttons on it but it rewinds or forwards to the next track or at least alot of time fwd or back. We're looking for a very precise rewind like a VCR so she can torture me with certain phrases over and over like " Off with her head " from Alice in Wonderland when I have a migraine. I think it's the only way I'm gonna get her to switch over to modern technology. Does Trisha's do that? Sherry
Guest guest
My son does not have an official dx of autism but they doctor said he is in the spectrum. lines things up. He likes to line up his videos in a certain pattern on my bed. It is the same every time. He is ruining his videos. He rewinds them all of the time! I had no idea any one else's child did this. He smells everything. He is obsessed with puzzles. There are only a handful of foods he will eat. Some weeks are pretty good. This week has been off the wall with him. He has been like a little Tornado. I feel like my house is turned upside down at times. Somedays he will keep all of his toys in laundry baskets. I had nice toys boxes for him but he would not leave the toys in them. I decided to get laundry baskets for him to put his toys in. He can carry them around room to room. I didn't realize it at the time but this just fed right into some of his odd behaviors. He LOVES to sit for hours and shove his smaller toys through the small holes in the laundry basket. When it is warm outside his favorite thing to do is shove rocks through tiny holes. I don't get it. This past week has just been crazy with odd behaviors. I noticed he a couple of times this week he was staring at the light. This is a behavior I thought he was past. He also seems to have conversations with himself. He will make hand gestures and says a few things and stares at the light. I can be right in front of him an he doesn't seem to notice when he is doing this. I don't think it is a seizure because he will look at me if I call his name. Well, I didn't mean for this to be a book. I am just wondering if there is any real benefit in getting a for sure dx of Autism, if that is what it is. Which I really have very little doubt after reading so much on this list. Thanks, Lee Ann > > Here is my theory.
