Guest guest
Hello all! ny and Teddy (T21) are now over 5 months old! It is still a challenge, but instead of a moment-by-moment barely-making-it-through existence we are now in a day-by-day, this-is-getting-better-all-the-time place. Ted has been thriving since his cardiac surgery, and is beginning to give us social smiles and even a little laugh or two. We are still working on neck strength, and he makes a valiant effort during tummy time. ny (no ds) is now sitting on his own, rolling over at will, and getting his knees under him - all within two days! I am kind of glad they won't be starting to crawl at the same time! Everything I read about DS says not to compare their development to their peers. For this group it is kind of hard not to since the contrast is in your face daily. I am having a hard time with the double whammy of seeing the difference laid out before me and feeling like if I wasn't so busy (twins, toddler, hubby) I could do a much better job of working with Ted to help him along. In your opinion, do I need to be pushing him forward on a daily basis or will he get where he is going developmentally at his own pace regardless of how much I am able to work with him? Here is another question: are any of you familiar with Weston Price? Since I was unable to breastfeed we had been giving the boys commercial formula, until I realized I had a recipe for a whole food formula in a cookbook (Nourishing Traditions) and after a lot of research we started using it. We actually had the support of Teddy's cardiologist, which surprised me! They have absolutely flourished on it. Just wondering if any of you have any experience with anything like this? Big sis is doing a great job, taking all the changes in stride now after a rough couple of months. I am so grateful and proud! The house is still a wreck most of the time, but at least we are eating more and more hot dinners. Thank you all for sharing glimpses of your journey with the rest of us, Heidi Ted (T21) & ny (5 months) and Lilly (3) Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone, powered by CREDO Mobile.
