Guest guest
This discussion thread is built on the exchanges earlier about teaching our children. I wish NIMAS (National Instructional Materials Access Center) had been established earlier in my sons' school careers. NIMAS focuses on developing multiple types of instructional materials to be used in the same classroom. In short, ACTUAL inclusive education. This is the website where to begin. http://nimas.cast.org/ Other places: National Universal Design for Learning Task Force: udl4allstudents.com National Center on UDL: udlcenter.org Penny--Penny, this is listserve; listserve, this is my wife Penny--is working with a group of parents of children with learning disabilities to prepare public schools in our area for curriculum approaches that facilitate UDL. One of the major selling points is that each child has an unique learning approaches, and UDL enables a teacher to work with the child at his/her own level. Naturally, this means more computers in the classroom. But that's a lot cheaper than having multiple teachers in the classroom. I'm advising everyone on our listserve, even those outside the United States, to start getting informed. We can do it! Our children can do it! No matter what their learning disabilities.
