Guest guest
Great shots Casey! She looks so happy. We want to put in Special Olympics in the future. Would like to do swimming and ice skating. Both practice fairly far away from us though. You just have to make that commitment I know. She's busy enough today. is playing Challenger Baseball (season just ended), TOPSoccer and on the Cool Cats Hockey team. (Dad loves hockey!) We are having a nice year for fifth grade. So easy since it's the last year in elementary. They know everyone and how everything works, so no issues. 's assistant and teachers are now working on letting her walk to her classes alone. They say they peek around corners to see if she's making it. She is very proud to do that. Oh so independent! The first week though, some of the teachers would stop her in the hall thinking she was running off. They made her a " sign tag/necklace " with two different pics and words (e.g., I'm on my way to Miss Aldana's class.) ) So we've already had initial IEP which had to include the first couple months of 6th grade/middle school. Too early for that so I'll have to request another IEP meeting in the Spring to truly cover 6th grade objectives. They all agreed that would be good. We have a good team to work with. Should be fine, but I'm a worrying mother of course. There is also a chance she'll have heart surgery in the Spring again for a valve replacement. Still has a significant leak. As some of you know we've always has issues in the past with that pacemaker, each lead wire and such. We go in to do the echo and pacer check the first part of December and decide. One Cardiologist wanted to do it a year ago, so I'm afraid this will be it for sure. Something interesting that we did was an x-ray of her hand to determine her bone age vs. true age. Her bones are at age 7 vs. her being ten, so she obviously has some growing to do yet. That was pretty cool. Amazing what they can tell from a single x-ray.
