Cyndy, you don't need any expensive materials to use touch math, as an SEA I use it alot and I make all my own resources. You can easily just add the dots to regular math sheets once they understand the basics of how to count the numbers. They do need to be good solid counters before you start the program. If they can effectively and consistantly count to 100 then I would consider using this program as it is very easy to use and is nice and concrete for our kids.......Merry ( mom to 2 with DS: Josh 19 and Jayk 15 and 2 others) 2011-07-19, at 7:04 PM, Cyndy Bayer wrote:

I have not used touch math, but I am using some Apps for the iPad with .There are a lot of math options and many are free. You might want to look into that before spending a lot of money on a singular math software. She is using it for sign language/communication and a lot of other educational material as well. Even though the iPad is not inexpensive, a lot of the Apps are very affordable and she has them with her all the time so she can learn where ever she is. She has made a lot of progress this year, I believe thanks to her iPad.You might want to reach this before making a final decision.

My daughter has been using Touch Math at school for the last few years. THey sent home some papers for us to practice at home as well as the number line coded with the touchpoints.

I don't think you need to invest in the product. All you need to do is understand the touchpoints on the numbers, create some of the practice sheets with the touchpoints on the numbers and then you are good to go.

good luck.
