Guest guest
Hello Multiples Mamas! I don’t get to post much (well….never!). But I wanted to pass this along, in hopes of possibly reconnecting a woman with her half-brother who has DS. Her name is Kathleen LaBounty – she has been in touch with Rocha, the pres of DSA of Houston, for about a year. Kathleen has a blog on being the child of an anonymous sperm donor, and is seeking her biological father; and on top of that, her mother had given birth to a child with DS (from another sperm donor) and gave him up for adoption right after birth 27 years ago. Here is what I found in her blog: (link to the blog if you want more information: http://childofastranger.blogspot.com/2008/11/looking-for-half-brother-with-down.html ) In addition to my search for my anonymous sperm donor, I have also been on a quest to locate my 27-year-old maternal half-brother with Down syndrome. He, too, was conceived through an anonymous Baylor student in Houston, Texas, but was placed up for adoption right after his birth in 1981. I have contacted the adoption agency (Spaulding), the lawyer involved in his adoption, and other organizations dealing with adoption and/or special needs in an attempt to get in touch with his parents. Nothing has worked thus far. I know that my half-brother was adopted by a family in a specific city near Houston. His adoptive parents have two biological children without disabilities as well as two other adopted grown 'children' who also have Down syndrome. If you know of a family that fits this profile or if you are aware of other resources/people that could assist with my search, please contact me. Posted by Kathleen R. LaBounty - KathleenRuby@... Her contact information is right there – kathleenruby@... ,so if this pertains to one of you, or you may know the wonderful family who adopted her brother, I can only imagine the reconnection would be magical!!!
