Guest guest
cyclothymic bp, phonoligal Cyclothymic bp is extremely rapid cycling, with no or few "normal time". BP2 is bipolar without severe mania. They are kind of like opposites on the roller coaster. Phonoligal has to do with the whole making sounds without knowing it part of aspergers. I figured the Dr. wanted as many dx for the school. BP/Aspergers SUPPORT GROUP Debby, Mom to: Kristofer 10, BPII, General Anxiety, Tourettes, Distraction, OCD, Over-focused (switching to lamactil, lexapro and keeping tenex) Bradley 8, Aspergers, Cyclothymic BP, Social anxiety, Phonological, (switching to Gabitral, tenex, abilify, keeping seraquel) 504 public school Mandy 5, - holding out for hope! Guest guest
Hi Angie... Yes, ODD is a diagnosis. It stands for "oppositional defiance disorder." Check out this website: http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ebdstudy/disord1/oppose.htm If you put the name in a search engine, you'll find many more websites as well. My Beth seems to be getting a little better as she matures (she's 15 now). I'm very happy about that! But she's still negative, easily frustrated or angered, jumps to quick (not always true) conclusions, never accepts blame, nor says she's sorry, etc. Some of these diagnoses blend into each other though. She was diagnosed with ADHD/ODD, then aspergers in 6th grade, and bipolar is being mentioned as a possibility now...she has 'some kind' of mood disorder, the dr says. Maturity will tell us more. As far as being destructive goes, Beth does mean to be, she just is. She finds herself writing on things she shouldn't be writing on. She carved her name and other things in wooden tables a few years ago (arggh!). She 'picks' at things until they are broken or messed up, like the table my computer is sitting on. The plastic laminate underneath has been picked at and picked at so now it's ruined. She used to suck on her shirts all the time when she was younger and then actually bite them until they had holes gnawed out of them. And so on. And so on. And so on. Now she is basically the opposite....with a bit of OCD thrown in, her room is totally perfect; everything in place. Nothing can be OUT of place now. If she doesn't use something currently, it gets tossed! Clothes, makeup, CD's. UGH!!! We're going through her garbage.....taking out anything of value. She just can't 'stand' to have it in her room if she's not using it NOW. Ah yes. Always a challenge of one sort or another. maralee -----Original Message-----From: Angie Parsons Sent: Saturday, April 03, 2004 9:11 PMTo: autism-aspergers Subject: Maralee Your daughter seems to sound alot like my Hannah. Forgive me for not replying immediately I'm trying to catch up on emails now. I would like to hear more about her. Is ODD actually a diagnosis? I don't know much about anything yet. Still trying to find time to research never had heard of Aspergers even a month ago. Would love to hear more! You were saying about her being destructive.... Our names for out first two children were Hurricane Hannah, and Tornado Alie! The left a path of distruction where ever they went. Needless to say Alison is now very particular and neat and it seems she just followed where her older sister led her which happened to be chaos at all times. She walks into a room destroys and is gone before you know what happened. She does clean up than when I make them, or if there is something she wants to do desperately that I won't let her do til she cleans. But neat is not her thing! LOL Well getting tired, try to keep up better. ANGIE
