November ASCC General Meeting - November 4, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.

Martha Kate Downey is an author, public speaker, and educator for and about

autism and the more general special needs population, and she also has a

daughter with Asperger Syndrome. She is the current moderator of DANISH (Dallas

Asperger Network for Information, Support and Help) and a coach for Special

Olympics Texas. She is also the author of TAP DANCING in the night; If you've

ever wanted to crawl in the closet with an OREO; The People in a Girl's Life,

and her latest release, What Do I Do About Hitting?!...about children's

frustrations, anger and rage According to Ms. Downey, this book took some very

hard years, which made the book worthwhile, and provides hope for those having

children experiencing rages and depression. More information about Martha Kate

*The November meeting will also feature, for a second and final month, Rijay

Jeyaseelan, an artist with Autism, from India. Rijay will exhibit his art work,

as well as give a brief explanation of what art has done for him. His art will

be for sale, and Rijay will generously donate 30% of all sale proceeds to ASCC.

PLEASE NOTE, THERE WILL BE NO GENERAL ASCC MEETING ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND.

ASCC's December meeting will be replaced by its annual Holiday Party on

Saturday, December 6, 2003 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic

Church, in Plano. Details to follow in next month's flyer.

ASCC's Scheduled Monthly General Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the

month at St. Methodist Church at 7:00 p.m.
