Best change was it made me realize quality of life doesn't end at 50

and you ar never too old to become fit.

For 2000, I am hoping to burn some of the fat, not so much for looks but for

health to avoid diabetes, heart disease, etc and to keep increasing my

flexibilty and strength to enjoy life to the fullest.

So you can say in 1999, it changed me spiritually

and in 2000, I am hoping for more physical benefits.

Barb

who doubts I would have been welcoming the new year without Tae-Bo cuz it

gave me the self-esteem, strength & determination I needed to overcome the

feelings of failure that my 20yo son had planted in me.

> What was the best change Tae-Bo brought to you in 1999?

I think the biggest change Tae-bo has given me is inner strength and

peace. I was always so obsessed about weight and the number on the

scale, and the only reason I exercised was to lose weight. Tae-bo has

taught me to focus and visualize...to see what it is I want to become

and to have that vision become reality. Initially, when I learned to

focus, it was on the moves. I didn't think it was anything more than

that...you know, focus on holding your leg up, focus on contracting

your abs, etc. But, what I never expected was that the outer focus

would translate to an inner focus that would allow me to have more

control in other areas of my life. I am stronger on the

outside...tae-bo has definitely re-shaped my whole body. I am amazed

every time I look in the mirror at what simply doing tae-bo 6 days a

week has done for my body. But, I am also stronger on the inside, and

although that was not the aspect about myself I was looking to change,

it is perhaps the part that needed the most work. Amazingly, tae-bo

has given me confidence and a love of myself, that I desperately needed.

> What changes do you hope for in 2000?

I hope to continue to grow stronger and to be able to challenge

myself...kick higher, become more flexible, increase my stamina. I

hope that I am able to continue to re-shape my body and that I continue

to build muscle, getting rid of the fat on some of my " problem

areas " ...stomach, hips, butt....guess I better start doing AL5 a little

more faithfully...ha ha:)

who forgot to mention that she got a punching bag for Christmas. It's

the hanging kind, so we're not sure where to hang it, since I tae-bo in

the living room. I'm anxious to give it a try, though. Bob said he'd

try to rig something to where I could take it up and down. I'll let

you all know when I try it out. Hopefully, that will add a whole new

dimension to my tae-bo.

1) a bevy of new friends! ::applauding y'all::

2) increased calm and centeredness

3) awesome changes in my body...more than with working out with

weights.

What changes do you hope for in 2000?

>

1) To work out regularly.

2) To reach out to you guys when my mood is low and keeping me from

working out.

3) To work at eating sanely when under pressure.

4) To look for decent men to date.

5) To expect the best from them.

6) To recognize negative signs (warning signs) men emit WHEN THEY

OCCUR, and get myself " outta Dodge " .

I might add on more later!

Great question!!!!! My advice would be to do the nstructional a few times

before you start on the basic and give that AT least a week or two. But then

buy a live tape, even if you don't do it, so that you can see, yes, these

tapes are interesting and fun, and this is what you're working up to. I know

at least 15 of my friends who totally hated the studio tapes, and won't do

Taebo because od the cheesy music, the weird camera tricks etc. Once I get

the new 4-pack that advice might change to...get the new 4 pack instead of

the studio 4 pack. My other advice to begginers and advanced Taebo-ers alike

would be to seek out others who Taebo, if you can't do it online, try in real

life, recruit if you have to. Most of us have a day or two here where we

feel guilty to our partners in fitness if we slack off without good reason.

But we also will less likely to be discouraged, because others may know what

we don't know: Prime example...you may start to bulk up before the weight

comes off.

will be able to do the moves, it just takes practice and patience. "

Everyone is doing great on the challenges!! Keep it up!!

:) >>

I would tell them to take their time. Learning the moves right is VERY

important or you can get injured. You have to take it at your own pace

and move up only when you're ready. I can remember when i started i

thought i might never be able to do some of these moves and now i can do

most all of them!

If you had never started Tae-Bo, what form of exercise do you think you would be doing right now? Also, what kind of exercise did you do before Tae-Bo?:)

If I had never started Tae-bo I don't think I would be doing any regular excercise right now. I had totally given up on my will to get through any kind of excercise program. I knew I needed a bigger physical challenge than anything I had tried before and I knew it had to be more than just physical. I really needed that mental element that helped me learn to control my body and my own happiness. I knew Tae-bo would work for me. I could see that it was different. It seems like I start to get discouraged just before a new tape arrives. When I try my new tape I get that feeling again, " Oh, yes! This will work! " Sometimes I think is crazy (you don't really expect me to DO that?!) but I'm glad he believes in reaching higher than what we start with.

Ooops! I forgot to answer the second part of the question...............Also, what kind of exercise did you do before Tae-Bo?

A while back I was doing four cable TV aerobic-type workouts in the early mornings 4-5 times a week. When I moved I found out there were no cable workouts in my area, even on ESPN. I guess they changed their programming. I would go out on the weekends for some intense dancing. It was the first time I ever excercises consistently. I lost alot of weight from having 2 babies and I was much smaller than I thought I was. My mom had me convinced I was a size 10, even though I had to take in all my clothes 4 or 5 times. I still have a pair of my old pants and I can't believe how tiny they are. After I got into pretty good shape I walked and biked alot and occasionally went dancing. I had more kids and had to start over again getting into shape.

Question of the week

> If you had never started Tae-Bo, what form of exercise do you think

>you would be doing right now?

I'd still be going to the gym every day...running on the treadmill, or doing

the stairmaster or elliptical machine. I would definitely not be enjoying

myself and I'd be wondering why I'm not seeing better results for the amount

of time I was putting in to exercising.

> Also, what kind of exercise did you do before Tae-Bo?

I used to run a lot and lift weights. On the days I didn't lift, I would

run for an hour. On the days I did lift weights, I'd run for 30 minutes.

I'd like to get back into some moderate weight lifting because I do enjoy

that. It's just a matter of finding time to get to the Y, because the times

they have daycare are always when Skylar is taking a nap. Maybe in a couple

of weeks when Bob is home, I can start going back to the Y a couple of days

a week.

How many sat. fat grams are you trying to eat also? I am just doing my own

raised me to love all veggies (except squash) and I love all kinds of fruit.

Gosh, , I honestly can't think of any diet that I would have

considered a fad. I'll have to think about this one.

I'm usually always getting on my mom or my little sister for going on

really silly diets, like the cabbage soup diet.

Another great idea! I have to pass on this question because I don't

diet or count calories. Didn't have to before I hit 40, then after

figured what's the use? lol..good thing I found Tae-Bo!

> What is the most ridiculous fad diet you have ever tried?

I hate diets. There were only three that I didn't give up on before I closed the book about them. One was called The Eating Man's Diet that suggested alternating restricted calorie days with days where you eat the exact number of calories for your desired weight. It had a good premise for its time in that it restricted calories only for one day at a time and the next day you learned how to eat properly. I tried the Slimfast thing, but I think I lost weight because I was doing 3 hours of ESPN workouts every weekday morning, not because of the shakes. The craziest diet I ever tried was my own chocolate chip cookie diet. I was still doing the ESPN workouts and going out dancing every weekend. I was never hungry, but if I didn't have a snack two or three times a day I was no use to anyone, so I made killer cholesterol chochip cookies once a week. I swear they saved me. I have even adapted the recipe for soy flour (and no lard this time) and they really help me keep my blood sugar balanced. No kidding.

NONE! I have never in my life been able to do a diet that was written down.

I know that sounds terrible, but I have never been able to do it. I just
