Just reading through all of your posts and I have some

replies and a question.

Regarding patient reports, I think there are special

guidelines in the US

under the HIPPA Act that need to be adhered to. Working in physician practices

I can tell you sending the reports by email would not be good for reasons

others already mentioned, it doesn’t get read, especially if it is from

an unknown sender. Many different staff need to have access to patient data so

a fax paper can be put in the chart of scanned into an electronic chart.

Lastly a question for any private practice IBCLC’s in Pennsylvania. I am

working on a resource guide project for the PA Chapter of the AAP, PA Dept of

Health and PA Breastfeeding Coalition. I need this list of all people who are

breastfeeding support persons to be as complete as possible. This list will be

given to physicians around the state so they can refer patients to you. It may

also eventually be posted on their website as well as the websites of the other

participating groups. It is free advertising for you. Please email me privately

and info about your practices to go into this guide. Address, phone, fax,

email, hours of availability, if you rent or sell any products, if you submit

to insurance and if you routinely get any insurance reimbursement for your

services.

Also, I am taking an informal survey for the USLCA regarding

the RLC credential. The question for IBCLC’s is: Do you use the RLC

initial in your signature line? If you are willing to reply just send and email

with RLC survey in the subject of the post and yes or no in the body. Send to

my home email as well jlgutowski@...

You are also welcome to add your thoughts on using this extra credential if you

wish and I will forward them to Crystal Stearns at the USLCA if you do.
