Does anyone have a child who does seemingly well for some time with just small

bouts of anxiety and then suddenly at a certain time of year, begins to have

panic attacks and chronic irrational fears that escalate until the child just

shuts down?

We have gone back and forth from OCD to a bipolar diagnosis and still something

is missing. We are covered with mood stabilizers but no real treatment for

anxiety because he can't tolerate SSRI's .

It always happens in the spring. The rest of the year he is a different kid.

How is PANDAS treated?

Bonnie,

My DD's (14) OCD is always worse in the spring, right when she gets her

seasonal allergies. She is much better when they go away mid-June. She

is not bi-polar, even though her pdoc always tries to pin that label on

her. She has no other bi-polar symptoms. I read that allergies can

cause the same types of " flares " that strep can cause in kids with OCD.

We just try to struggle through the spring time. Last spring she took

Buspar along with her SSRI and it helped.

Sorry that isn't more helpful!

Dina
