Guest guest
Hi , Natasa has a good idea. There are a lot of imbalances in our children. Eddie certainly had lots and seemed to be intolerant to almost every food - in fact we were down to extremely few foods he could tolerate. Eddie didn't tolerate honey until about 1 year ago and we managed fine without. We did give fruit puree pear for puddings mixed in with kefir or yoghurt - he has this with kombucha too now and it's very nice. I guess you could make a filling dessert with one of the low fructose fruits maybe ? Eggs. If only Eddie wasn't anaphylactic to eggs the things we could have on SCD - everyday we'd have them scrambled or omleted - mmmm. We mostly eat nuts and dried fruits as snacks. We got a dehydrator and make our own " crisps " (we call them chips). You can make savoury ones too - we use it to do banana and apple chips and to dry out nuts after soaking (important to soak those nuts first - makes them more digestible.) Having said all this when we first went SCD Eddie still had potato crisps and it took us a few months to replace them - but we figured they were a small part of his diet. We didn't do the introductory diet and so that made things easier too. We did give BIG meals though - we were very generous with portions of meat or fish and veg etc - often putting SCD cheese or some nuts on there too. Amazing how much he ate really. But we can't take out the carbs without plenty of replacements. Protein is filling. Phew! Sorry for the long garbled message - hope it makes some sense.
