Guest guest
Re: Homemade formula A mother I worked with not only had a history of PCOS but then had a postpartum hemorrhage with a large loss of blood. Her pediatrician recommended a homemade formula with goat’s milk. I was a little leery of the formula but the mother insisted that her doctor specialized in nutrition and that the baby’s constipation from the store bought formula cleared up after starting her homemade stuff.. She said it was 50-50 water and goat’s milk with fresh strained carrot juice strained 3times .. Funny, this mother told me her formula was higher in folic acid than breastmilk. She said she added vitamins and omegas. The mother said that the carrot juice added important nutrients and fats. I don’t think that carrots have fat but I didn’t argue with this mother. She had enough grief from a failure to make milk. Ellen Simpson Tampa
Guest guest
This makes me soooooo mad. What is this obsession in this country is "more is better"? The horse's milk is much higher in calcium, alas it doesn't help human babies to stand-up with in hours.Strain the carrots juice as much as you want, it is still a foreign body to baby's immature gut, it would fill the stomach, but she can digest it.I wish there was enough time in a day to call these practitioners one by one and ask them to prove their scientific backings. Mine backs to 200,000 +years of human existence "Human milk for human babies!!!"Sorry for the rant as this kind of gibberish was going on a bit around me lately. Congratulations to you Ellen, for your kind and understanding approach to this mommy.KindlyAnn Ann Faust, IBCLC, BA (Hons), LLLL, DA BABY AND ME LACTATION SERVICES LLC Pregnancy to Weaning All About Breastfeeding www.BabyAndMeLC.com annfaust@...
