Guest guest
Merry, I was just curious. I see that has osteoporosis. Have you been told what caused his? What is he taking for it? Our is 29yrs. old and we found out about a 1 and half yrs. ago that he also has osteoporosis. It was his Neurologist that told us that there had been studies done on Tegretol and it could cause the osteoporosis and so he had us have the bone density test done and has it very bad. has been on liquid fosamax since we found out. Of course more calcium and vitamin D and the sun and as much walking that he can do. And other therapy. He only walks with help and is in a wheelchair. The last bone density showed his hips had improved some but his spine is worse. Our next appointment is April 6. The Doctor is considering doing the infusion on that only has to be done once a year. I think it is Reclast but hadn't been approved for the insurance to pay for males with osteoporosis but only females. But that was suppose to change recently. has a severe seizure disorder and had been on Tegretol and valporic acid for over 20 yrs. So we took him off those slowly and the Keppra was added. When was about 3 or 4yrs. he started to regress in everything so was put in the hospital and had tests done and that is when they found he had the hypothyroidism and they didn't know how long he had had it so they said it difinitely caused more delays in . I would like to exchange ideas with anyone who is homeschooling their child with Downs syndrome. Our daughter is doing wonderfully in reading. She enjoys reading. Whenever we go out, the first thing she grabs is a handful of books to read in the car. However, her area of difficulty is math. Guest guest
Judy, Any information you have in regards to the valporic acid (side effects) would be much appreciated. My step son has been on this medication for many years for seizures (although I have yet to witness even one, but the MRI's show sure signs of seizures). He has Neurofibromatosis Type 1.
