Very cool . My boys love the pool too. And it's always inspiring to hear that someone is reading! I've just decided to purchase a "My Baby Can Read" program b/c another mom here has had some success with the program. Any other input? xo maggie Mom to Olivia '01 and & '05 (IDs w/ DS)

Hello! Luke and Jake are doing well in 2nd grade and both are enjoying school. Luke is working on 1st grade math skills, can read the 2nd grade spelling words (comprehension is a whole different story), and takes spelling tests on a different set of words, but usually gets them right. Somehow the boy has figured out phonics and can sound out a word to read/spell it. His speech is slowly increasing, but he mostly relies on his Vantage Lite (AAC device) for speech output. We love this device--we've had it just over a year now and while there's a definite learning curve for Luke, his family & teachers, it's been amazing to provide him with functional communication and find out what he has to say! Cyndy, I am happy to answer any questions you have about an AAC device--please feel free to e-mail me off list.We all have colds now, but for the most part have had a healthy winter. The boys are taking swim lessons, which started up again yesterday,

and they both love being in the pool. Their 8th birthday is in just 2 months, so we're already in the discussion stages of what will be planned. I don't know if it's easier or harder now that they have their own preferences!--mom to Luke (DS) and Jake, age 7
