Guest guest Posted April 25, 2004 Report Share Posted April 25, 2004 My 9 yr old has my head..........he is gonna be what you call a babyface but his 5 yr old brother and 7 yr old sister who has not been diagnosded as having aspergers/autismn they have a bigger head then he does.........so i don't think that is the link........but it would be interesting on how many parents have neurological disorders themselves...........i do so and my sister has dyslexia and i read somewhere its related or some other word besides related to the autism thingy Sassy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted April 25, 2004 Report Share Posted April 25, 2004 My son is PDD-NOS and his head is quite big, he is adopted and his Bio Mother also drank and I think that is a trait of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome also. I was wondering if any of your children have a larger than "normal" head circumference. I was thinking their might be a link to larger head size and PDD/Autism. I did a quick search and found there might be a correlation. Guest guest Posted April 25, 2004 Report Share Posted April 25, 2004 Hello Everyone, On the subject of head circumference, my Hannah is Asperger's and actually has a smaller than normal head circumference. Actually her weight and head circumference has almost always fallen at the bottom of the chart if not under it. Her height has always been ok, but the doctors fussed over the weight til she was about 4, and finally agreed she was just small. But nothing was mentioned about the small head size. Right now she measures 50cm and she just turned 9 last week. How does that compare to anyone else? My 5yr old(aspie,ADHD,ODD) has a head circ of 46 or 48cm. I'm not sure what average is but he has always had a huge noodle. MISSYSAHM to some special kids!!! The pediatrician had said that if his head got any bigger when he was a year old they would do an MRI, but it never did like they were watching for. But yes, to this day, he has a big head and it's hard to find shirts to fit over his head comfortably. Carissa April is National Autism Awareness Month. An OT therapist thought our boy was Fragile X becasue of the head size. Tested negative to this. But I must add that when he was born it seemed really big for him and it was, and still is, completely round! (ouch it hurt!!!)
