Guest guest
Greetings, all! I bought one of those Tanita Inner Scan body composition monitors to try to monitor more scientifically my attempts to gain muscle mass and reduce fat. I'm 63. The monitor tells me my metabolic age is 12 (the lowest age on the scale). I read that " Metabolic age is a number that comes from comparing your Basal Metabolic Rate with the Basal Metabolic Rate average of your chronological age group. " So, apparently it's not saying I'm prepubescent. As I see it, on a scale of 12-50, a 12 must mean my BMR is very high compared to most 63 year olds. Is that the right interpretation of metabolic age? Is that 12-50 a standard scale or something of Tanita's creation? -- J.
