Guest guest
Our developmental pediatrician put Isaac on zoloft for OCD 3 months ago. We started at .05mm to now .7mm have seen minimal improvement for OCD, and not much side effects until this weekend. Since Sat- Isaac has been upset about everything- and saying " try again " over and again for shoes on, shoes off, door open, door closed...everything bothers him- he cried all day long. Has anyone had luck with zoloft for OCD? What med. have you had good results for OCD? Thanks for your input. |n " there is nothing so unequal as the equal treatment of unequals "
Guest guest
Hi n, It's been awhile but I think Zeb was on luvox for OCD. I never knew they used zoloft for OCD but I'm not the expert. Guest guest
n, I don't remember any side effects. I didn't see immmediate results but more gradual improvement. Zeb went through a period that it took him hours to inch his beanies to watch his tv show, of course, after four hours of this, the show was over. Guest guest
My daughter was put on Zoloft a year ago to help her engage with us and give more eye contact. It worked - she was so energetic and playful but we eventually figured out it was the zoloft keeping her up at night. She would go to bed at a normal time but always would wake up around 2am wide awake giggling and making lots of noise and would not fall back asleep until 5am. Ever sine we took her off of it she sleeps through the night. So our side affect was not sleeping well. zoloft Our developmental pediatrician put Isaac on zoloft for OCD 3 months ago. Guest guest
, Takes Risperidal which took about 2 weeks before it showed it was helping. This past July something bit on the head which caused cellulitis of the head/face and caused swelling. After all of that went away (2 months) his behavior had returned to like what is was before the risperidal.A ped nuro surgeon put him on zoloft. His bad behavior increasinly got worse.I tried the zoloft for about 3 months and could not stand it.We took him to the dr and backed him off this med.Never quit cold turkey because these meds can have rebound affects. His behavior finally returned to normal. good luck Cyndi B > > Our developmental pediatrician put Isaac on zoloft for OCD 3 months ago. Guest guest
Good luck ~ let me know how Dayton is doing. The psychiatrist wants to bump up to 25 mg for Dylan, and I think I'm going to see how he is once school starts and then decide based on that. He indicated what Dyl is on (12.5 mg) is a very small dose. I got fed up with our local small town psychiatrist and finally got in to one at Children's in Milwaukee with the help of our endocrinologist. I must have looked like hell one day at an appt becuase they started asking if we needed help, like psych help with Dylan and I explained our situation, and they made some calls for me and whala, we had an appt! It's an hour drive but I can usually coordinate it with other appts there (ENT, Endocrine, dentist, etc.) so it's been worth it. Becky cmedrano@... wrote: THANK YOU!!!! We are going to the dr this afternoon!!! It hit me in the middle of night.. he is on Amoxil for his ears and wondering again if the RX is messing with the system and hate to change anything now for least a week or so! We are 8down and 6 days to go! Also.. we are taking 25mg zoloft and it was bumped to 50mg few weeks back.. and umm all the drowiness kicked in and vomiting. I think it to high of a dose! Need a psychiatrist.. just not around worth a toot!!! Thanks Re: zoloft Hi ~ Dylan (12,DS, Autism) started about the same time, around mid-June. Within 3 weeks we saw positive effects. The only down side we've seen (not sure if it's related to the meds or not though) is that he's super giggly/goofy at bedtime. But it's been nicer to deal with than his extreme unhappiness/sadness we had before. We haven't experience any drooling or vomiting from the meds. Dylan was sick for about 12 hours one day vomiting, but that was it. Dylan is on 12.5 mg once a day. Dr. suggested upping the dose, but I wasn't ready for it yet & he was going to camp that week. I am happy with things the way they are, I suppose they could probably improve but we're just enjoying the fact that his mood is a little better. And, I hate messing around with meds. Dylan is on abilify & ritalin as well. I know our psychiatrist said that if this one didn't help there were lots of other ones out there, so if I had the side effects Dayton is I would probably try and find something else. Good luck! Guest guest
We are in the process of deciding on meds for , and zoloft is one. We haven't tried yet, though. Guest guest
My son (age 7) was on Zoloft for OCD- and didn't see much change for OCD, thought his speech was a bit more clear and may be more engaging socially. (I use may because the difference was slight and can't really say if any improvement was due to the drug for certain) We started at .05 ml and went up to .7ml at which dose he had a major collapse...his OCD was worse than ever- and his emotions were totally out of whack...he cried all day long- and everything bothered him. He wanted to do things over and again- couldn't get in and out of cars...we had to stay home for a week- I just held him all day because he would cry and cry for no reason. We immediately began to wean him from the medication. cmedrano@... wrote: Anyone kid take zoloft or tried it?
