I am enjoying the next three weeks before we see the GI doc and I have to completely revamp the way we eat. I hate diet food and all that natural stuff. I am an old fashion meat and potatoes cook. Nothing on this GF diet appeals to me. I visualize myself sneaking out to a restaurant for some good bread and dessert. >> Charlyne- I hear you!!! but this dang GI stuff is so rampant in Autism. celiac or not I hope you see results that make it worthwhile for you; that's the only way we've managed to keep it up. Plus I tortured jamie with weird diets before she was old enough to develop a taste for the bad stuff so while I'm out there cooking her stuff- I'm eating a bag of potato chips LOL. hey...meat and potatoes is totally GF (but you're right you gotta go sneak the bread). Feel free to use me as a punching bag when you're freaking out about going GF. Are they gonna do a scope first to test for celiac or are you just going by the blood work? (I personally think the bloodwork is enough and we've been to a few Gis who agree). Sherry Charlyne, I guess this is good news/bad news. When I found out we had to do this diet - I lost it. I thought " what next " " isn't life already hard enough " ? But, take it slow -- you'll find foods that work for you(and him). We have a health food store here that has a Celiac Day once a month. You can go in and taste the foods so you know what's good and what not to waste your money on. A lot of it taste like cardboard, and spits it out. But the good news is is more focused and more engaging and his digestive system is better. I was also going to ask if you are doing the scope? I was told that is the only way to really get accurate results. Good luck. Patty

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Good luck. > Patty Charlyne, I have been following this route for quite awhile in regards to the GI issues, etc. that most of our kids undergo and just to rule out anything this was told to me too. In your case when your on this road of having your own business and carrying all the non-food items that Zeb is not allowed and craves/habit forming, I do hope you are able to handle this well and who knows you might have to add some extra food items to your list to sell because there are actually alot of Zebs out there with this issue. I know I would be the first one in line. ; ) I wish I could freeze up the food I have been making so that Zeb could taste it, so far its been pretty close to what we have been use to as my family and I are all adapting to these changes. Do not forget though, is allergic to eggs and milk so I had to find ways to work around this too. I can not just go out and purchase any GF products as some contain the prohibit food ingredients so I have to make them out of scratch most of the time. I am holding off to one of the recommendations for now which is the Raw milk, due to another doc whom is receiving medical care from he does not recommend this due to having immuno- deficiency disorder which coming from a cow could cause other health issues. Still open until I hear further info. Today was the first time to actually observe with a smile compared to him being in a trance for the past weeks and actually vocalized " ok " . To us the supplements, vitmains, & special diet have been a Godsend. Of course not 100% but a relief compare to the past. To all who are reading this, here is something to consider, if your child even yourself as I am noticing a difference is to make sure to use some type of Probotics as we have had antibiotics, etc. into our system this will decrease some of the health issues in the mean time, not heal just some relief until under a medical doc figures out what is going on. This is why it is very important to be under medical care when wanting to apply any special diet as there are so many underlying medical problems going on to detect and you do not want to cause more harm. Numerous of my other cyber friends have had some tremendous results with Aquaflora or just mega doses of Dannon Activa (the green package) vanilla flavor and would give 3-4 containers a day. Would alternate days with the Dannon Immunity (yellow package drinkable yogurt)strawberry flavor 2-3 per day.. So far for he has been using the Milk-free Acidophilus, what incredible results of the missing piece for NOW. Special diet and vit/supplements is not enough there has to be some cleansing too. does not have Celiac, this has been ruled out on an annual basis. Wish everyone luck and hope everyone always find ways to work around this. Irma,18,DS/ASD
