Guest guest
Hi , Sorry about your hard day. I have been there. I would tell my friends, just open your windows and if you hear screaming, you will know that we are at Dental Clinic! I don't know how old is, but at least some of it could get better. I also couldn't a toothbrush into Hannah's mouth without holding her down, but now she requests a toothbrush! It is still bloody murder at the dentist, but she is making progress at least with brushing teeth. Her therapist has also used the Beckman Method (sp?) for a few years to reduce mouth sensitivity. Hang in there. It won't always be like this. a (Hannah 9)

I had to check in at 6:15 AM. Not a good thing for a mom whose darling child only sleeps but a few hours in the evening and must have a bottle to get back. Of course she could not have any food or drink after midnight. I was so tired when I took her in. But the staff was terrific and I LOVE her dentist. Seriously, if I wasn't married...... He is just such a gentle soul. He came in prior to procedure to discuss what was going to happen and as he left he turned around and put both hands on her head and gave her forehead a sweet little kiss , he then said to her, " I will see you inside my little angel " I walked her into the operating room and was able to hold her while she was gased up a bit. As soon as she went limp I had to leave. Her dentist called after me and told me not to worry because I should know he would take good care of her. She had 17 cavities filled and 2 root canals done!!!!!!!!!! She should have had 4 root jobs but he said once he got in there they were not necessary! She woke up right away and seemed to be herself within the hour. I am just soooooo gald that is over4 and now I am off to try to get her to go to bed....I am tired! Our health insurance covered the anesthesia and hospital, while dental will cover some of the actual work. Good luck. Maddie needs to get put to sleep and have some dental work done. Our insurance won't pay (don't have dental, but docs say it's a medical procedure because of the anesthesia), and until I go through the whole appeal nonsense, our MA insurance won't kick in. I'm right there with ya.....so incredibly sick of red tape. Donna

I took Birgitta to a hospital for her work because an anesthesiologist must be used. Medical insurance is supposed to cover the anesthesiologist and facility. If you do not have dental than the medical is not responsible for the dental fees but they should be for the facility (hospital) and anesthesiologist. See if you can't get the worker from the hospital who handles insurance claims to call them. The hospital and anesthesiologist would be separate bills from the dentist. I hate working with the insurance companies. It's like pulling teeth!!!!!!!!!!!! See, what's SUPPOSED to happen is that when our family insurance denies coverage, her medical assistance insurance is supposed to kick in. It didn't, so I have to make phone calls and find out the next step. I'm guessing that I need to appeal, be denied, then get MA to pay. It's ridiculous. Duff wants me to just schedule it and pay for it, but it's not like it's a crisis; she just needs a good cleaning and a couple fillings. UGH!!!! Like we all need this kind of cr*p to deal with. If I am able to get out and be a big volunteer one day (provided my younger two are independent) I am going to be a special needs advocate. I will just go into hospitals and fight for families that are too tired to anymore or I will call the insurance companies and hassle them so parents can do what they should be which is attending to their families. I want to help others who just don't have the time and strength to fight anymore. Of course my dh says it is just that I love a good fight!
