Guest guest
Thanks Barbara for the CPS explanation - I guess I forgot we have out of towners here LOL I spoke to the moms pediatrician and he said the baby slipped three times on the growth chart in the last few months. This baby is not gaining enough. I know I will get a phone call from CPS but I really cannot give much info because I haven't seen this baby in 5 months. I think I will call her today and maybe encourage an sns again - she didn't want to do it last time. I don't know how well it will work with a 9 month old - but it seems like the last resort. Thanks for all your advice, and yes as someone said I probably am not "getting all the information" from her as well. Donna Donna B. Guest guest
I had a mom like this. She changed perdiatricians because they thought she was crazy - called CPS on her. The new pediatrician recommended she see me but that I needed to call him first - he told me she was nuts. She had requested a slow vaccine schedule.I go see this lovely attached mom and a 5 month old baby who had moved down three variations on the chart. Mom sling wearing willing to do whatever it took. She had begun to supplement with AIM. Baby took in small amounts - .7, .8, etc. The thing is she had a posterior tongue tie. I mean you could not see it but you could feel it. I suggested she see Dr. Coryllos. She had also informed me she was moving upstate NY. We kept in touch for a short time.Last October I did a presentation at a LLL Conference and this family comes up to me - it is the mom with a beautiful, appropriately chubby 18 month old and told me she had seen Coryllos, had the frenotomy and after 6 months of age did not need to supplement anymore.I was moved to tears. This poor mom was doing everything she was supposed to.I recently saw another Posterior tongue tied baby and the mother was told by her ped that there isn't anything to do for this and that supplementing with formula was perfectly fine. This mom kept pumping until she could see Coryllos two weeks later and now has a normal breastfeeding relationship with her baby.Donna, are you sure this isn't a posterior tongue-tie?Leigh Anne O'Connor, BA, LLL, IBCLCNew York, NYwww.leighanneoconnor.com Thanks Barbara for the CPS explanation - I guess I forgot we have out of towners here LOL I spoke to the moms pediatrician and he said the baby slipped three times on the growth chart in the last few months. Guest guest
Leigh Anne - you know I am usually the first to think of that - I have to look at the baby's file. Thanks for the idea. Sounds like a similar situation - but her neighbor called cps not the doc. Donna Donna B. Kimick, IBCLC, RLC President of LILCA Lakeshore Lactation www.LILCA.ORG I had a mom like this.
