Guest guest
I know of no studies that would suggest that K pax raise CD4 counts.I know of no reason why this particular preparation of cheaply available compounds would be better than any other. On Feb 9, 2006, at 12:26 PM, PozHealth wrote:My pharmacy, which has been leader since start hiv epidemic in NYC, says customer feedback is that K-Pax makes mild but detectable improvement, presumably because raises CD4's--I noticed this myself, small but appreciable. expensive, but also simple--just take the one or two packs a day and you're pretty much covered, might want to add more calcium & other specialty supplements of your choice--Hugo Barrowpozbod@... Nutrients are cheap (and yes, the constituent elements of Kaiser's protocol can be gotten cheaper). But the stress on ADAP isn't from nutrients. It's from outrageous, murderous and killing drug prices. Only the worst of which is Abbott's outrageous cost for ritonavir as a boost. The industry is destroying healthcare, increasing premium costs, and assuring that the 47 million of us lacking health insurance will never get it. Be glad you have ADAP. But don't be fooled as to why states are staggering under the threats posed by pharma and people are dying in places like South Carolina while on waiting lists. M. The Krugman article cited above is a good one. If we were to pay for HIV care, we could save a fortune in avoiding hospitalizations for PCP and other problems in advanced disease.Internationally, too. No matter the cost of the medications, they could be paid for, if there were a political will, here or in the developing world. There isn't. Barrowpozbod@...
