Guest guest
Hello All, We are at a crossroads and need some help. Please feel free to throw any and as much info as you can at me - I want to consider everything at the moment, there is clearly a lot of different things out there for us to try so I am going to tell you our situation/progress so far: My son Stanley has been gf/cf and on fish oil supplements (Eye Q capsules) for 8 months now. He is 8.5 years old. We started the diet after his urine was tested by Sunderland ARU and found to contain the opioid peptides they associate with leaky gut and casein/gluten intolerance. He eats very healthily, lots of fruit and vegetables and has no artificial additives, msg, aspartame or hydrogenated fats (he does however have a limited amount of df choc and legal sweets as a treat). He has made great progress and his abilities in many areas have improved following this regime. We were intending to follow the Sunderland protocol (actually it is the only one I was aware of before finding this group of fantastic people!) and the next stage is to find out if he has a problem with any other foodstuffs. I am considering taking other foodstuffs out of his diet next and identifying which (if any) are a problem for him and having read both positive and negative reviews of the IgG and IgE tests I will do this with a food diary and careful observation. Having seen a list of possibles on the Sunderland Protocol, and in view of the fact that many of the foods he consumes contain it, I was intending to eliminate soya first. My questions to you all at this stage are: How quickly does the elimination of soya from the diet show results - with casein his change was immediate, gluten we know is a much longer process - is soya the same as either of these - I can't find this info online. The other foods (that he eats) named as potentials are: corn, tomatoes, potatoes - do any of you know how quickly the effects of these would be seen if removed - and/or is there a recomnmended order in which to try this? I know that I have thrown lots of information at you all, but I would be very grateful if any of you could spare the time to give me your experience and advice. Feel free to ask me any other questions that might help. Thanks in advance - so far whenever I've had a question lots of you have helped me - so thanks again - can't wait to hear from you! Kindest regards, Clare Barwick
