Guest guest
Hi, Everyone ~~~ We got back around 11:15 today. Gareth did OK. He's got a BRAVO radio transmitter tagged to the inside of his esophagus and has to have the receiver within 6 feet of him at all times. The transmitter will fall off in a couple of days and go through his system. And no......we do not have to retrieve it at the end!!! It is to record the amount of acid reflux coming up from his stomach. Gotta love modern technology!!! I am thinking of keeping him home tomorrow......only because she stressed the high$$$cost of this receiver. I'd hate for him to drop it on the hallway floor and break the thing!!! I have to take it back Thurs. am. Visually, the doc said everything looked good. No redness from GERD and no Watermelon stomach to indicate further Scleroderma issues. Thank you, Dear God!!! What he did find was a very swollen, U-shaped Epiglottis....doesn't know the cause or significance. That would contribute to the whispering/hurting to talk. He also said there is bulging into the esophageal space that the CT scan will show the cause on Friday. He whipped off two possible causes that I have never heard of and said both are reparable by surgery. He told me to be prepared for that and we will know more after the CT scan on Friday. So........Gareth is resting in his favorite chair for the afternoon and I am searching the web for more answers. Thank you all for your prayers. I can deal with more surgery if it will 'fix' the problems. The idea of a chronic disease like scleroderma is really causing ME headaches already......and I NEVER get headaches!!! Take care, Everyone. Margaret
