Guest guest
Margaret, Relatively speaking... I think this sounds like wonderful news. I'm glad to hear that if it's one of those two things that it is fixable. Even though surgery is never what you wish for, at least there is a fix. We'll continue praying in NY. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Thankyou for sending the update so quickly. You and Gareth have been on my mind all morning. My thinking is that this is good news. If it is repairable great regardless of what it is. At least you know more than what you did yesterday. Our prayers were heard. He's got a BRAVO radio transmitter tagged to the inside of his esophagus and has to have the receiver within 6 feet of him at all times. The transmitter will fall off in a couple of days and go through his system. And no......we do not have to retrieve it at the end!!! It is to record the amount of acid reflux coming up from his stomach. Gotta love modern technology!!! I am thinking of keeping him home tomorrow......only because she stressed the high$$$cost of this receiver. I'd hate for him to drop it on the hallway floor and break the thing!!! I have to take it back Thurs. am. Visually, the doc said everything looked good. No redness from GERD and no Watermelon stomach to indicate further Scleroderma issues. Thank you, Dear God!!! What he did find was a very swollen, U-shaped Epiglottis....doesn't know the cause or significance. That would contribute to the whispering/hurting to talk. He also said there is bulging into the esophageal space that the CT scan will show the cause on Friday. He whipped off two possible causes that I have never heard of and said both are reparable by surgery. He told me to be prepared for that and we will know more after the CT scan on Friday. So........Gareth is resting in his favorite chair for the afternoon and I am searching the web for more answers. Thank you all for your prayers. I can deal with more surgery if it will 'fix' the problems. The idea of a chronic disease like scleroderma is really causing ME headaches already......and I NEVER get headaches!!! Take care, Everyone. Margaret

Guest guest
I thought this weird that this email was the first one I received from Margaret re Gareth as I see Margaret’s email in Becky’s reply. So I checked online at the list site and notice Margaret’s first email and a reply from Charlyne’s that I didn’t receive, strange. Anyway Margaret so happy things went well we will continue to pray that the CT gives some fixable answers. Are they still saying Gareth has scleroderma from the blood tests even thought it didn’t sound like they found it today? Did they do a biopsy, would that show scleroderma? Isn’t it amazing what all we learn from conditions of family members. Lots of hugs and sit down with a cold cloth on your head, and relax to hopefully get rid of the headache. Guest guest
I didn't know they could do that. Jordan had a biopsy done back in 04 which they had to knock her out completely for. They did surgery like nine months later and we've had no major issues since. There is however, some psychological issues because for five years she had pain whenever she ate and still associates food with pain, but we're working through that.. ever so slowly. Glad to know Gareth is home and resting. I hope all of those prayers helped him out ::hugs:: Judi S. Good news/bad news > > Hi, Everyone ~~~ > We got back around 11:15 today. Gareth did OK. Guest guest
Margaret, so glad to hear from you so soon. Thank God it's not that sine scleradermis whatever stuff. That idea just gave me the shivers thinking about it. Now for goodness sake get off the computer and stop researching. God can take it from here and you need some rest. (Great advice I know I'd be allover the internet lookin for answers too:-) Sherry
Guest guest
Sounds like the good news far outweighs the bad! Sometimes it seems like it would be easier if they didn't tell us what the possibilities are and waited until after testing to say what they wanted to rule out. But then maybe we would come up with even scarier possiblilities. Anyway, so glad there was no more sign of scleroderma and what they did find is fixable.
