Guest guest
My doctor prescribed me Sipralexa or Cipralex 10 mg. I had really very much pressure, social and professional and suddenly I fell in a very serious black hole and I thought I needed some help. After 2 weeks my depression went better but a week later I was experiencing very severe side effects... my emotional world was fading away. At normal, I am a very sensitive and warm person, its the heart and centre of my identity... And also serious libido and sex problems. Then I started to reduce my dose and in total Ive been taking this poison for 5 weeks. My pharmacist said to me that after 4 days those adverse effects should have disappeared, because then this drug is out of the blood system. I am feeling a little bit better then last week but I am still experiencing these very serious adverse effects. Today I called again with my doctor and talked to my pharmacist and they suddenly said it can take up to 3 weeks until these effects have disappeared, even though the drug is out of the blood system.. I am really angry at my doctor because he prescribed me this drug, which i didn't need at the first place. And those " specialists " do always say something different. And I am also very scared because I read about those persisting side effects... Is it possible I will not get back to normal after 5 weeks on escitalopram oxalate ? Because I am a young student aged 22. I am a very social and caring person and if my emotional world is not returning anymore it would be disastrous... And isn't the main goal of life procreation ? If my libido doesn't return, it would make no sense at all anymore... thats really worse than a small depression... A friend of mine who is a Master in nursing did some research for me (reliable academic search engines at the university hospital) and he said that those persisting effects have occured, but only with people who have been taking up to 20 mg for months or years. These persisting adverse effects are also very exceptional, he said. And I should not worry at all... But I also read somemwhere at the internet that some people experience this persisting side only after a few weeks at the same dose ive been on ... I really dont know it anymore ... Guest guest
Yea, I know exactly how you feel. I'm a 22 year old male and I took lexapro for a year, and by this march, I will have been off of it for 2 years now, and I still have no sex drive. It's terrible because being a male, people expect your to be really horny (sorry if thats innapropriate), and I know some girls that think I'm a wuss for not going after them, and they ask me If I'm gay or something. I know right now, I'm living in a crazy college town, but this is supposed to be the best time of my life, and I have to say, no sex drive isn't making things very fun... Btw, I took 20mg's, so maybe I'm screwed. > > My doctor prescribed me Sipralexa or Cipralex 10 mg. Guest guest
I took 10mg a day of Lexapro for one year. I stopped taking it in August 2004 and my sex drive still hasn't recovered. After the first of the year (when my Flexible Spending Account kicks in) I'm going to start seeking medical therapy to reverse it. Chrissparksnorthern wrote: Yea, I know exactly how you feel.
