Guest guest
That's great news Margaret. Is that why Gareth has been losing weight? Sounds like you have a good doc there. Gail :-) Hi, Everyone.....Well, Gareth made out OK today at the Ped. gastro dr. I didn't have to worry about asking any questions because the Dr had already talked to G's PCP and had his agenda all planned out!!! First to be done, is the barium/swallowing study with a Speech Pathologist.......never heard of it till you guys told me!!! That is scheduled for 10/26. If nothing shows up wrong on that, he will have another endoscopy for his esophagus/stomach. The dr said they don't do tubes down the nose/esophagus anymore for acid tests. They 'clip' radio transmitters (I think that's what he said) inside the esophagus and Gareth will wear a 'receiver' on the outside for 48 hrs. Sounds like mega bucks!!! Also, he wants him to have a very specific blood test done to r/o IBS. I said that I would have thought Gareth would show signs/symptoms of IBS, but he said that with G's history of high pain tolerance (blown eardrums, hip dysplasia, etc) that he isn't taking any chances. Anyways..........sooner or later we will find out why the kid is having such a high sed rate. Thanks for all your help, guys!!! Take care, Everyone. Guest guest
Margaret- Sounds like you have a first rate PedGI working for Gareth! It all sounds reasonable to me AND well thought out. We often grouse about the unhelpful and even obstructive professionals our children's needs bring into our lives, but it is so important to give " honor to whom honor is due. " This doctor sounds like a wonderful person. I hope you find out what is troubling Gareth quickly.
