I really like the "open morning" idea that you have. How often do you have them? How many people attend on the average? How long do they continue to attend? Do the women have access to local LLL?Thanks in advance, Dalton RNC, IBCLC, RLCLouisianawww.LactationResour ceCenter. com
Guest guest
Hi Ladies.thanks g-d that i don't have to speak on the Internet - i suddenly lost my voice... Happy that i can write.me and my colleague Kathy have this " open morning " once a week from 9:30 to 12:30 (am). the mother can come as many as she wants, even after 6 month from the first visits. sometimes they come to ask questions about coming back to work, trying pumps, giving solid food or even weaning.we are not limiting the duration.sometimes, the problem which i saw the mother at the first time resolved and we're having a new problem and the mother don't have to pay for a new visit full charge. we have to local LLL groups near us. one group is my own group, and i invite the mother to the groups. at our " open morning " we don't obligate  to LLL philosophy, but it's quite similar because the mothers have a support from us and the other mothers. you have to remember that LLL groups meets just once a month and it's limiting the mothers if they want a once-in-a-week follow up from someone that knows her situation and the way she gone through. we think that the price of 10$ worth it and it's a very important service for me to give. even i SMS the mothers the day before and ask them to tell me if they want to come to the " open morning "  sometimes no one comes because a bad night with the baby or something, and i still coming and pay for travelling... the average for a meeting is 4 mothers for each of us (Kathy or me). once we had more the 10 mothers and it was very crowded and hard time for me to give every mother attention... it's a great opportunity for me to see how's Kathy working and because i'm a brand new IBCLC (certified at 2007) i've learned a lot from her and how she's solving problems with mothers.
