Okay, so I did not find any pooping pictures in my Boardmaker program so I

resorted to searching the internet. Let me tell you what....I did not realize

pooping was such a hot topics. There were pictures of llama poop, chicken poop,

dog poop, cat's pooping on the toilet, in the yard, in their liter boxes,

elephant poop, soldiers pooping in the desert, a woman pooping on the dining

room table, fake poop, real poop, reptile poop, and every other amazing kind of

poop in the world, but no pictures of poop coming out someone's butt in the

toilet! There was a drawn picture of a child squatting with poop coming out but

not in the toilet. There was even a suspiciously looking photo of Eli's poop

art that could have been one of ours from this site. Wow, can I just say it is

a very poopy world out there! how was I to know. I think I might just have my

mother draw what I am looking for. It is great having an artist in the family!

ha!

Thanks for putting up with all my poop talk!

Personally, I like the cat sitting on the toilet rim and pooping in the

toilet. Do you think our kids could get the idea?????

My son was dry day and nite by age 6 - I have no clue how or why. However,

he was not really bowle trained until he was 15. He was clock trained for

bowel by age 12ish, with infrequent accidents. I am also of the once in

briefs never resort to diapers again. That meant that at one point we were

sending six sets of clothes to school, to be replaced as needed. We also

agreed on a pullup for the bus trip to and from school for sanitation sake

for a couple of years.

We collected data for a week and then proceeded to toilet (without any

comment beyond " Time to go to the BR " ). When the " deed " was accomplished,

suitable praise words were used - We deliberately downplayed praise to Good

Job!- as we believe that over praise for what is NECESSARY in life is

counterproductive.

Patience is the best I can tell you.

BTW - for what it is worth- I think the idea of toilet training an hour a

day is bogus! I would like to know what data the person suggesting this

" method " has amassed to prove that it works.

We used the developmental peds team at Children's in Richmond. I don't know

where you are in VA. There is also a GREAT pediatrician (my opinion) in

Richmond - Harry Gewanter.

Hannah is not totally trained yet either but we are

getting closer. (10) She is bowel trained just working

on the other. But at one point we used one of those

alarms during the day where once the sensor detects

liquid the buzzer goes off. She did not like the sound

but it did help her make the connection of oh, that's

what Mom is talking about. Good luck!

My son, , will be 10 in May. We have tried everything recommended for years.

Last summer, I turned this problem over to God. I needed to do this as I was

having a difficult time accepting the fact I had a 90 pound child still in

diapers. Well, he's no closer to being trained, but at least I'm now at peace

with it. The other good thing that has come out of it, is now that I'm not

forcing the issue I can really stand back and evaluate what's happening. One

thing I have determined is he is actually frightened to sit on the toilet for a

bowel movement. I watch him stand bent over stiffly trying to hold it in because

he knows he should not go in his pants, but when I try to get him to the toilet

he shouts " NOOOOOOO " ! Has anyone else experienced a similiar situation with

their child? I have tried going to our local Down syndrome clinic to speak to

the doctor about it. That was no help at all. We are going to try taking him to

a neurologist for this and other issues.

This would be a case where I would want to try a " bedside " commode.

Basically a " potty chair " for grownups. No water, no noise. I have bought

these things for elderly people I know who need them at yard sales for

under $5.00. They can be bought new at a durable medical supply company.
