Guest guest
I apologize in advance for this subject matter but I need some help. Jake is going to be 8 in April. He pees on the potty when you initiate and at times initiates himself. He stays dry all night, but do to our own laziness, he pees in his diaper when he gets up since he gets up and plays in his room while we are still sleeping. My problem is that he does not seem to get the poop goes in the potty. I mean that poop is suppose to go from the butt to the potty. As soon as he poops in his pants, he comes to get me. We put the poop in the potty, flush, say bye bye the whole 9 years. I have looked for potty books, for tapes (he is currently watching the new Elmo on the potty but all that has done is increase the amount of times a day he washes his hand). I honestly think he needs to see something that shows someone on the toilet, and shows the poop coming out and dropping in the potty. Does that make sense? can anyone help? do you know of a social story or something I can get? tired of cleaning poopy pants Holly
Guest guest
Holly there are some pretty " graphic " Boardmaker Pecs, do you think that would help? I can relate a bit. will be 8 in April as well (the 22nd) and sometimes just doesn't seem to get the poop in the potty bit either! Although I'm glad we left diapers behind awhile ago, there are times I wish the poop was in a diaper rather than underwear, legs, pants, and all over the house for that matter. Do you have Boardmaker? Hang in there and here's to poopin' in the toilet in 2007!!!! Jayne Holly Giglio wrote: I apologize in advance for this subject matter but I need some help. Guest guest
Oh, Holly. I know what you mean. Atleast Jake does pee on the potty. Tori does sometimes, but mostly does it in her pullup and then says, " Oh I peed; or Oh, I wet thru " . The Dr. says alot of it can be sensory not knowing until after the fact....I dunno! Guest guest
It is my experience that there is a disconnect between having feces in the body and having feces in the pants. I don't think that my son knew he HAD to go for years. Until it was out of the body and in his pants, he jusst didn;t know the sensation in the body that told him it was time to go. Also, we did away with diapers and got " whitey tighties " . Then Elie let us know IMMEDIATELY when he soiled. Also, it was cheaper and easier to wash out thebriefs - or throw them out when not bleachable. I bought them in bulk packaging for a long time on line from facotry outlets at $100/pr - even at that it cost less then diapers and we had no rashes. Not to depress you, he didn;t " get it " until he was 13 or so and still had maybe weekly accident until he was 16. Now (at 21 ) he has had one accident in the last 6 onths or so. Now he wakes up to go to the bathroom. He has been dry since age 5 or 6. BTW, my doctor claimed it was impossilble to get voiding and not get bowl needs. But she was very wrong. Now that Elie gets it, he can tell us that he will need to go - enough time to get to a rest stop while traveling- he will not " go in the woods " . Sara - Choose to make lemonade, not complain about the lemons. > >Reply-To: >To: < > >Subject: toilet training >Date: Thu, 7 Dec 2006 13:01:54 -0500 > >I apologize in advance for this subject matter but I need some help. > >Jake is going to be 8 in April. Guest guest
Holly what a funny world you found in your search. I was just going to suggest you draw a picture but with an artist in the family nothing could be better. You will have to write a training book and your mother could illustrate it. What would you call it????? Louise toilet training Okay, so I did not find any pooping pictures in my Boardmaker program so I resorted to searching the internet. Let me tell you what....I did not realize pooping was such a hot topics. There were pictures of llama poop, chicken poop, dog poop, cat's pooping on the toilet, in the yard, in their liter boxes, elephant poop, soldiers pooping in the desert, a woman pooping on the dining room table, fake poop, real poop, reptile poop, and every other amazing kind of poop in the world, but no pictures of poop coming out someone's butt in the toilet! There was a drawn picture of a child squatting with poop coming out but not in the toilet. There was even a suspiciously looking photo of Eli's poop art that could have been one of ours from this site. Wow, can I just say it is a very poopy world out there! how was I to know. I think I might just have my mother draw what I am looking for. It is great having an artist in the family! ha! Thanks for putting up with all my poop talk!
