Guest guest
Hi , 'Not a problem! Hairpieces have little combs to initially hold the hairpiece in place, then there are all kinds of 'wig pins' & clips -- like large bobby pins & hairclips to pin in between the combs, etc -- to hold everything in place. If you find a regular wig boutique, they will show you how to manage all this, comb it into your own hair, etc. --- so you don't look like you sat some kind of 'fuzzy' hat on top of your head. You will be surprised how natural all this can look, once you get the hang of it! Another thing I neglected to mention was how much Soy Protein Drinks, helped my hair & nails get back to 'better than normal'. I prefer to use the protein powder mixed with juice, at home, as opposed to some canned drinks. I quit drinking out of any kind of cans years ago, and I prefer to mix my protein drinks with a little extra protein. This also helps my energy level greatly, in a week or less. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns. Blessings, Martha Murdock NSIF

Also, my PCR results went from .262 in fall of last year to 1.21 this spring. I asked about FISH and he said I am still undectable BCR/ABL but that test is not very good either. So he wants a BMB/BMA now. I tried so hard to escape, haha. I wondered if you have heard much about the IFN/Gleevec trial that Dr. Druker is doing? I am wondering whether I should put an add/on (even though I hate IFN) right now for the summer months to see if I cannot reduce my PCR? Anyway, as far as the BMS trial goes, it went. I don't know what is going on with that. I called Dana Farber a couple of times and no one called me back, and I was waiting for these results (PCR from March) to make up my mind and I only just got them this week! Anyway, I just found it interesting that my onc. is making me come in for a biopsy now. I would have though 12-14 vials of blood were enough! - Take care and email me sometime! - Lynne A. The PCR testing does not show other chromosomal abnormalities.......which is a sign of disease acceleration.....so, that is the reason to do one. On PCR testing, is there is a 3x increase or more.....then this should be investigated or monitored. Your increase is more than 3x.....so it is reasonable to try to figure out what is going on. But also, does this include the time that you were off drug.....that could be the reason for the increase in your ph+ count. More written below. >I wondered if you have heard much about the IFN/Gleevec trial that Dr. >Druker is doing? I don't know what is going >on with >that. I will see Dr. Druker the end of this month........I did go to OHSU the other day for just a PCR test. I would say that from the effect inf had on you (I do remember those days!)....that you are pretty inf intolerant, and it would probably not be a first choice for you. More below. >I called Dana Farber a couple of times and no one called me back, and I >was waiting for these results (PCR from March) to make up my mind and I only >just got them this week! Anyway, I just found it interesting that my onc. >is making me come in for a biopsy now. I would have though 12-14 vials of >blood >were enough! You need to really pester Dana Farber about where you are with the BMS trial.....insist on talking to someone. I can't see doing a bma with your local onc, if you might need one with Dana Farber soon? I have heard, but unofficially, that the phase 2 trial might have enough patients soon......so it could end..........but that they are gearing up for the phase 3 trial in a couple months. OHSU has not, to my knowledge open a phase 2 trial (at least not for chronic)........and I heard that the chronic won't open until the end of July (which sounds like the timing for a phase 3 trial to me). So, I would really bug DF to see if you will be worked up for the phase 2 trial........for some reason the trial centers seem a bit secretive about all this.......but I think part of the reason is that the timing of things is often out of their control (but they should say that!).......... Guest guest
Thanks Wanda. Isn't it wonderful how well Virginia is doing and I am so proud of her also. It is good to see some of our seasoned lifelifters posting!!! How are you? Guest guest
Thanks for the insight :-) - C. Mom to Cassie 16 PCOS, Austin 14 ADHD and a 3.5 HFA/AS & SPD/SID ( ) C. Beleive it or not they do transition. I got Austin into EELP through the public shcool system and it's not based on income. Only the child's need for extra education. This class contains children that are having issues as well. Austin is 3 and just turned 3 in August and was applicable for this program. The class contains children from the ages of 3 -5 and it's been wonderful for him. It took him 2 months to adjust. He still has a hard time. The best advice is to try to get to know the staff by name. His teacher I talk to every morning and the teacher's aides I talk with all the time even on a personal level. It's important to have that type of relationship because if your child has some extra needs they are all to happy to help out in those. Also we just found out that Austin has Aspergers Syndrome I just told his teacher on Monday. She told me that she has worked with Severely Autistic children from middle school age to pre-K for 9 years. So I can see why she is qualified to work with children of all different delays and issues. Also she said that making a picture chart for austin to tell him what's next can help him to mentally visualize what we are doing next. Like going to bed at night. A faculty that works with you on a daily basis is a key component to your child's success. Don't be afraid to let them go a full day either when you feel comfortable. I thought Austin would have a hard time especially only just turning 3 but because I let go and said ok a full day he will now be integrated with other children 2 -3 years from now. They said he is catching up by leaps and bounds. As a parent they are your baby and no one can take care of them as good as you do that will never change. But giving that child independence also helps them to grow in ways you just can't imagine. My kid isn't even the same kid and it's just been awesome the progress he's made. I received a phone call yesterday stating that we made $600. a year to much money to qualify...but the director was writing a letter to petition that she be able to get in any way because of her Autism (that is how the school system classifies ASD/HFA/AS) They woman I spoke to said she thought it would go through because he, the director, normally gets what he petitions for. > She asked if we wanted a to stay 1/2 day or full day...and once again I told her we wanted 1/2 day 3 days a week and I would be there at the beginning to help a transition. I cant fathom how she will do I have never been able to leave her except at our church nursery. I do think she has made progress in the 1 hour, once a week she currently goes to a classroom...but it still scares me that she will slip through the cracks and be un noticed because if you don't know what to look for you will not understand her or it will be to late and there will be major issues, meltdowns ect. > > How did you guys get through this? > > We will have an IEP meeting before school starts and I have copied tons of IEP stuff already to reference but I don't want to be the overprotective mom...just the advocating mom :-) > > - C. > Mom to Cassie 16 PCOS, Austin 14 ADHD and a 3.5 HFA/AS & SPD/SID > > >
