Its a shame really that you were put on antidepressants on such an early age. It seems to me that most doctors look for the easy fix and never think ahead and the complications hard core medications leed to in the long run.I doubt you were given homeopathy to try first or any other alternatives before you were given Zoloft.. anyway..If you do plan to discontinue the medication my advice is to be very careful,14 years is a lot of time and your brain IS addicted.in fact, your brain probably doesn't even remember whats life is like off the meds. plan ahead, pick the right time and go very slow.read your body.listen to what it tells you.spread it over a period of time lets say 8months to a year. the good news to you is, since you are still on medications you don't know for sure if you have PSSD or not. to know for sure you have to be meds free. most people recover their sexual functioning after they stop everything. maybe you will to. good luck to

you. and keep us posted. this way we'll know if long term ssri use really is a factor. I personally have a feeling that it totally depends and wouldn't be surprised if the day after you stop the drugs you have the best sex everjammin2984 wrote: I'm new in this chat room. I've been taking anti-depressants for about 14 yrs, and I'm only 23 yrs old...so it looks like i'm screwed considering most others haven't taken these drugs for as long as I have. The main drug i've used is

zoloft at 150mg. I started having erection problems at about 16 yrs old. With patience and a little work I can get it up enough to have sex but it still sucks...so hopefully I can find solution to depression without SSRIs. I've read that ED can be permanent even after stopping the use of SSRIs....this pisses me off cuz I wasn't warned about this when I was a little kid, how was I supposed to even comprehend what this would mean in the future and have the knowlegde to oppose using drugs!! I barely knew what a boner was. I think I was put on SSRIs because I was a problem child and a little deppressed and hated to go to school. But now I don't know if it is possible to work my way off SSRIs because my body is dependent on them , especially after gowing through puberty and growing up on them. I think doctors are still under the impression that these side effects are rare and not permanent. It is time for a class action

lawsuit or atleast require the drug companies to say "this drug may lead to a PERMANENTALY limp noodle" in their commercails. I am open to any and all methods of depression treatment and I hope to lean as much as possible about depression and sex. Good luck to all of you.

I know how you feel in terms of taking the drug for long periods of time, I took them for four going on five years. That's a lot less time than you I know, but I understand how it feels to hear from people who took them for 6 months to two years saying that they still have ED several years after stopping usage and thinking to yourself "well great, I'm totally screwed then." We all were never told about what SSRIs could do to us permanently. And all of us know what is like to reach out to others and be told that the problem must be with us, not the drugs. To be honest, I feel pretty hopeless most of the time like things will never get better, but it helps to keep in mind that there are a lot of people in the world who KNOW that they will never be able to have a sex life (people with spinal cord injuries, major defects, ect. ect.) and that, as long as we're still going, there's always a chance. That and that everyone here on

the board is here for you and understands and we're all in this together. There's a lot of courage here, posters are very brave in trying different forms of treatment and sharing with each other, there is strength in numbers, and someday one of us, or all of us together, will find a way to beat this thing. Stay strong, good luck, and never give up hope. ps. Even if it sucks, at least you can have sex :)jammin2984 wrote: I'm new in this chat room.
