Guest guest
So I wonder if this is a taboo subject, but I'm going to bring it up anyway because I never hear any LC's talking or writing about this... but I do get the question sometimes from clients, sometimes in a roundabout way... What about a husband " helping " with nipple stimulation/milk removal in situations where the baby is not present/able/willing to breastfeed for a short (or long) period of time. Pumping is great of course but sometimes if mom and husband are both comfortable with it (and he has no oral diseases and has thoroughly cleaned his mouth first) can this be an alternative? I was thinking it would be especially helpful for adoptive mothers or those using a surrogate but intending to breastfeed who may benefit from something more realistic than a pump. Thoughts?
